What's the best way to find out about the interview being scheduled? Should we sit back and wait for the NVC to notify us? Is that notification sent as soon as the interview is scheduled, or a few days after?

I am trying to determine if I still need to keep calling the NVC to check.

You should get the email within a few hours from the interview being assigned, but I have seen it take a few days to get. If you don't mind waiting a bit, then don't bother calling. But if you want to find out as soon as it's assigned, then I suggest calling every single day, starting tomorrow.

Phew, all caught up with this thread! I was on vacation since last Wednesday and came back with 10 pages to catch up on! But was happy to see all the case numbers being assigned, the case completes, and the interviews being assigned! kicking.gif

If I missed a question that wasn't answered, just ask again! I think I saw all the questions answered, but who knows! laughing.gif

Here you go, Saylin, I got a question:

Yayyy they received my case yesterday!!!! Do I call every day until they assign me a number??

Also, I fired our atty a week before our i-130 was approved. I hand wrote a letter stating this and gave my address/phone number. I wonder, will NVC send my paperwork to me or my ex-attorney?

Yup, I suggest calling every day. You want to be on top of things at this point.

You sent this letter to USCIS? Did you hear a response back from that letter (or did you call them up to get confirmation they removed your attorney from the case)? Once your case number is assigned, ask the operator to see if they have an attorney listed on your case or not. Either way, you may want to email NVC (once you get a case number) saying you had removed your attorney on your case on so-and-so date. Then, when you email the DS-3032, make sure the petitioner or beneficiary is appointed as agent. It should be cleared up after that.

Thanks dear! At my last infopass (8/11) w/ USCIS I told the Officer we fired the attorney. He accepted a handwritten letter stating this along with my contact info. He also accepted a typed letter correcting all the attorney's mistakes FROM the attorney, in which she also noted she is no longer my attorney. I hope it's front and center with the I-130 package so they see that and don't bother with her.

Ah, if that's what happened, yes, NVC should see you no longer have an attorney. Just in case though, inquire about it when you get a case number; make sure your attorney's name is not listed anywhere on your case.

WELCOME BACK SAYLIN heart.gifrose.gif

Thank you! :D

It's been 4 business days and 6 calendar days since I emailed them the OPTIN email + DS-3032. I should have received the acceptance email from them by now. I see people getting it in just 1 day (according to their signatures). I'm not talking about the DS-3032 acceptance, just the shifting of the process from paper to electronic. I need that GZO number to get everything moving again.

It took 6 calendar days in my case for the switch from paper to electronic to take place, so what you are experiencing is not unusual. In your case, the switch should occur sometime between now and the end of the week.
