NVC Filers - August 2012

We got our NOA2 on July 18th, NVC received on July 23rd. Still waiting for a case number. Now in the mean time we are trying to get all the documents ready. My wife is in India and I want her to mail all the IV docs to me as soon as they are ready, and not have to wait for a case number to be assigned. Now my question is on DS230 what date should she fill in next to her signature? Is it ok to have it dated before NVC case number is assigned?

Just have her use the date she signs it. So, if she signs it today, use today's date. If she signs it tomorrow, use tomorrow's date. As long as the date isn't like from a year ago, it's fine.

Finally received my case number after 18 business days. But the operator said wait 8-10 days for the AOS bill!! We'll see how soon it shows up in my email inbox.

Grats on getting your case number! kicking.gif It shouldn't take that long to get the AOS bill; it's more like just a couple of days. Keep an eye on the payment portal!

Hi guys,

I just wanted to ask.... if it okay to submit that DS-3032 email from my husband (the beneficiary) to the NVC? I have not gotten any communication (email or courier) from anyone related to our application since the NOA2. I was only able to find out my case # and IIN# by calling them 1-2 times a week, which I just got 2 days ago. I have been to the NVC payment portal as of this morning, and our bill has not been created yet. So I don't know if I should keep checking on when to pay the bill, or if I can ask my husband to email that DS-3032 template (filled in with our info, of course) even though we have not gotten any DS-3032 request yet. I just don't want them to be irritated with us since we are sending them stuff when they haven't requested us for anything.

Thanks for the help... and sorry to keep asking the same questions that I know must have been previously asked, though it's hard to navigate through so many pages.

When you got your case number, did you give over both email addresses?

But yes, email the DS-3032. No need to wait for any green light on that.

I am at the same place you are. I took 16 business days (I think) from the time they received my case until I got the case number (which I got by calling them again, though haven't received any email or hardcopy). I don't know why things are taking so long. I still see people who only have a few days of gap between their NOA2 to case received to case number... so I don't know why there is so much delay with ours. I haven't gotten my AOS bill either. Haven't gotten any communication from them at all since the NOA2 actually.

It's taking everyone about a month from NOA2 to get a case number assigned.

And did you give over both email addresses when you got your case number? If they don't have any email addresses on file, then they have no choice but to snail mail correspondence which can take weeks to receive.

Saylin, I need your :help: because in the last 3 years, I only had income for 2011. (I have a tax transcript only for this year)

The instructions for the I-864 it says:

If you need extra space to answer any item:

--Attach a separate sheet of paper.

1) a. Is it best to staple the separate sheet of paper to the back of the I-864 Form?(i want to make sure a staple is okay)

b. or is it better to use a paper clip?

2) a. How does this template look to you?

b. Should I sign it?

Never, ever use staples. I can't recommend staples whatsoever. Always use paperclips. My reasoning: the officer is more than likely going to take your package apart. And what's easier to take off, a staple or a paperclip? The frustration of taking off a staple is probably going to aggravate them and would you rather have a happy officer who only has to take a second to take off a paperclip or has to spend a few annoying seconds removing a staple? Your pick ;)

Here's what my additional sheet looked like: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lNEm0btviWXw89jNWv0fh1sgPpo8-f2DpVXdv3SFWss/edit#bookmark=id.26d497d460f3 It's for the DS-230, but it's the same concept. Notice the footer and header. I suggest using mine as a template, plug in your info, and change all the DS-230s to I-864s. I didn't sign my supplemental sheet, but you can if you want to.

My Mother wants to ask you this question:

For the I-864 requirements: I am a joint sponsor and want to make sure I am including all pertinent information. I have transcripts from the IRS of the past three years to include. These include my income (retired teacher) as well as my husbands as we file jointly. Is it necessary that he complete the I-864 forms also? I also have individual savings including investment account,IRAs and annuities. I have adequate income with these, so was trying to avoid his filling out this form, and additional documentation. Appreciate your wisdom and advice.

Thank you.

If you don't want your father to be a joint sponsor, then all your mother has to do is include her own W2s and income information along with her tax transcripts. Doing this will separate her income from her husband's (from their joined income on the transcript), so no need for him to fill out the I-864A.

Also, if you're going to have a joint sponsor, make sure your mother includes proof of her US citizenship/residency. I've listed in the second post (the FAQ one) what that entails. It should be under the question about what to include in the AOS package.

So if both their individual incomes will meet the requirements and they filled jointly in there tax return, do you suggest both my Parrents fill out there own I-864/I-864A? And because both of my Parents don't list me an a dependent and I also live in a separate apartment in my Parents home, do both of them file an I-864, or an I-864A? or a combo?

We ask this because our plan was for just my Mother to fill out the I-864, but because the tax transcripts list both my Parents(they filled jointly) I am affraid the NVC may send out a RFE because the tax transcripts show the combined income. It seem like it might be better for both my Parrents to fill out there own I-864?

Just found out that its a fake checklist for IV and AOS. They reviewed my passport copy and my UAE residence visa that i sent them to change the embassy looooong time back.

They changed my embassy after two days of getting my passport copy. NVC email system is sooooo sloooooooowwwwww.

Honestly, yeah, if your dad doesn't mind, it'd probably be easier if he filed (and possibly prevent a checklist).

So, you would file an I-864.

Your mother would file an I-864.

And your father would file an I-864A.

Both your mother and father would have to submit proof of their US citizenship/residency. And if you already have their tax transcripts (showing both their income), then all you'd need is proof of their employment like an employment letter and/or pay stub(s) (only one pay stub is really needed if it has a year-to-date column on it).

thanks, I thought so because I don't use a separate apartment number so we all of us have the same address! I almost had my joint sponsor(Mother) fill out the regular I-864, I am so glad you are here on VJ because I am sure we would of had an RFE for not sending in the I-864A, etc... sorry for all the confusion. you really are a life saver!

thanks, very, very much for all your help!

Yeah, even though you're at the same address, you're not her dependent or anything. It gets kinda complicated sometimes trying to figure out if the other sponsor should fill out the I-864 or the I-864A.

And you're very welcome! Happy to help :)
