Hi all!

I'm planning a trip to Cancun in October. I'm a Russian citizen and so I'll be flying from Russia. One itinerary I found to Cancun takes me through the USA through NY. I currently have a tourist visa to the US. Here are some details and my questions:

I spent a little over a month in the US on my tourist visa. I was there visiting my old friend and her husband in Dallas. By the time of my trip it will be a little over 2 months from the time I left the US. I'd like to spend 1 night in NY then to Miami and from there to Cancun. I've read about the border guard denying Russians who come to the US too much. What is the possibility this could happen to me given my last trip there was only a little more than 2 months before and I spent a little more than one month there? One thing that might cause problems is, I will have a ticket to Mexico, but because we haven't decided whether we will go to Domincan Republic before returning to Russia, I will not have a return ticket to Russia at that time. Could this be a big problem or do they only want to see a ticket leaving the US?

Some other details: I'll be vacationing with a few friends. I want to go through the US because it's cheaper and an easier commute compared to the other itineraries I've seen. Unfortunately, my friends cannot do the same because they don't have US visas so I'll just meet them in Cancun. I have a lot of stamps in my passports from the last year (Spain, UAE, Cyprus, USA) and all not so many months apart. Perhaps my record of travel will not make it look so suspicious that I'm taking another vacation so soon after my last one.

So again to repeat: My concern is that I'll be turned away at the border and waste my money on the flights I've booked. I know it's always some risk, but how high of a risk am I facing? The trip will be much easier if I pass through the US, so I really want to do it!

As long as you have proof of your return or onward ticket you should be fine. Do you have plans to stay in the US? If not, why worry?

Thanks for the reply. I worry because if they don't let me through, then my ticket from NY to Maimi and ticket from Miami to Cancun will be a waste of money. I do need to stay one night in a hostel in NY just to rest before my next round of flying. The trip from Moscow to NY makes my head spin so bad and I need to sleep it off or I'll get sick, I think.
