Me and my husband got married on the 24th of July this summer 2012, and now we are working with the AOS paperwork. He is a US citizen, and I am a Swedish citizen.

I came to the US on the 3rd of June, to spend this summer together with my (then) boyfriend. We didn't have any intentions about marriage when I came this second time (I went to visit him the first time in January 2012.) We were going to apply for a K-1 visa when I returned back to Sweden after this summer, because we wanted to do it the "right" way and not take any risks. That was our plan.

But then, in the end of June 2012, my husband was diagnosed with a very aggressive and rare cancer. He needs me here now with him, and I could never leave him now, so we decided to get married and to apply for AOS.

Our summer plans have changed completely, and also our situation.

I would really appreciate help from you guys, to find answers to my questions about the forms. I'm nervous about this whole application thing, and I pray that everything will go by smoothly. I apologize if some of the questions are silly.

1. (I-130) This form says that I shall type the adress with the number first, then the street name. In my swedish adress, the street name comes first and then the street number. Should I write it the way to form asks for it, or the way it is written the swedish way?

2. I have no USS number or Alien number. What do I type in those boxes? N/A? None? Do I leave it empty?

3. My husband is a US citizen by birth. Do we have to fill in number 14-14b? (14. If you are a lawful permanent resident alien, complete the following: (etc), (14.b Did you gain permanent resident status through marriage to a US citizen or lawful permanent resident?) I don't think we have to fill that in, but I ask anyway cause I'm not completely sure.

4. When they ask about my immigrant status, and uscis status, do I write "Visitor" or "VWP"? I came on the VWP, but I am a visitor, so it confuses me.

5. I don't have a I-94 record. Do I just leave those boxes empty? Or do I write "N/A" or "None"? Do I write down my expiration date of my VWP anyway. even if it/s not a I-94 record?

6. When they ask me to write my Name/Adress in my native alphabet, do I just write down that one name that uses different letters, or do I write down my full name anyway?

7. What do I write when they ask for what USCIS office I will send my application to? Is it the one in Chicago I should write down (since we live in NJ and that's the office it refers to), or a USCIS that's close to our home?

8.(I-485) "I am applying for an adjustment to permanent residence status because:"? Which one am I supposed to choose in Part 2?(My husband is a US citizen, I am from Sweden.) I really need help on this one! Should I choose "other". or?

9. What should I type when they ask about "Nonimmigrant Visa Number"? Leave empty? Answe "N/A" or "None"? Enter my ESTA-number?

10. What should I type when they ask about "Consulate where visa was issued"? Since I have no visa, only VWP, should I leave it empty? "N/A" or "None"?

11. What should I type when they ask for "Date visa issued" since I don't have a visa? Do I leave it empty, N/A, None, or do I write down the date I arrived?

12. (I-765) Employment Authorization. What should I write when they ask for "USCIS office", "Date(s)", and "Results-granted or denied attach all documentations"?

13. (I-765) At number 16) where they ask about the eligibility, do you think C9 is the correct answer? It says "adjustment applicant" and I think that's the right one.

14. Can I use my ESTA-number for something, since I don't have a visa, nor a I-94 record etc.?

15. When we mail this paperwork, should we also attach a letter that explains this situation with my husbands condition? Is it a good idea to attach paperwork from hospital etc? Advices are appreciated!

1. Do not put your Swedish address in the I-130, except in the place where it says last address abroad. Write it like the form asks it, number first.

2. None.

3. No.

4. Either.

5. None. Yes.

6. Write the full name.

7. Either.

8. A.

9. None.

10. None.

11. None!

12. None! Have you received an EAD before? That is what it is asking for.

13. yes C9.

14. No. Does it ask for your ESTA number? No, it does not.

15. Not required.

To be successful in this process, you need to be able to read accurately and interpret literally. If it says write the address down with the number first, then you do it. If it says I-94 number, and you do not have one, you write none. Do not make things hard. I know it can be overwhelming, but just take it one question at a time and answer the question.

Thank you for your help! Now I have more questions, that I hope someone will help me with!

1. (I-130), When they ask for my foreign adress, what phone number should I write in the "phone number (if any)" box? My swedish home number, or the phone number to where I'm staying in the US?

2. (I-130), Regarding nr. 14, I don't have a I-94 record since I came to the US on the VWP. In the box where it looks like this: | | |-| | | | | | | | |, I wrote: | | |-|N|O|N|E| | | | |. Is that correct?

3. I am preparing the I-130 form since my husband is too sick to do it himself right now, When they ask for my adress, should I write my swedish adress or the US adress to where I'm staying?

4. (G-325a), When they ask for my residence, it says "street number" but in the example form on this site they wrote down the opposite way with the number first, then the street name. Which way should I write it?

5. (G325-a) Regarding the "residence last 5 years". Am I supposed to write down ALL the places I lived on, even if it was just for a week? Is there a problem if there are gaps in time in this field? Same for my husband?

6. (G-325-a) Regarding the employment, I've not been working the years I've been in school. Am I suposed to write "unemploye" for all those years? I'm confused, since I must not leave gaps in time regarding employment.

7. When they ask for what application I'm attatching this form to, is it naturalization? Is my husband supposed to check the same box as me?

Nymphadora, I said previously that to be successful, you must be able to answer the questions. There are no trick questions here. If they ask for you addresses for the past 5 years, then tell them. I don't think anyone on this board can tell you where you lived. You have to answer that yourself. Why would you put your Swedish address when it says present address? You need to tell them your present address... which is not in Sweden. You are not applying for naturalization. You are applying for permanent residence. Naturalization means citizenship and you are not becoming a citizen. If it asks for foreign phone number, why would you put a US phone number? Answer the question.

Just answer the questions.

I have to agree with Harpa on this. Seems like you did not even read the questions, or if you did, you did even think about it for a second, but just typed it up. You definitely have to interpret questions better or else you'll have lots of troubles along the way from biometrics, through interview. Just think about them for a second...these are not hidden or tricky questions...

Good luck!
