Administrative review usually happens when they need to verify something more in depth. Usually your case is being looked at more closely for accuracy and to make sure all security, name, and fingerprint checks have cleared.

As each case is different, no one can predict the time frame. It can be weeks, months and even years. It just depends on many factors, some of them unfortunately may not be known.

If she is approved after this review, how will they send the visas to her and her daughter? She says they will not call her back for another interview and they returned her passport.

I totally understand what you are going through. I stumble on the site searching for answers myself while experiencing the same situation. This is my very first post after sorting through a lot of information. My fiancé had her visa interview three months ago and was given the dreaded blue paper saying her case required additional processing. It is uncertain how long administrative processing last as it depends on the case, and what is under review. Your fiancé will received notification by regular mail on the outcome of the review and instructions on what to do next. You can check on the status of your case by emailing the consulate office in Guangzhou.

Best of luck to you.
