OKay you are right, there are American mobs roaming the streets looking to take out muslims.

Hyperbole will not obscure the ugly truth: Rank and file Republicans hate Muslims.

I think you need to travel a bit to see what real hate looks like.

I can see it right here.

I was trying to think of some 3rd party that might gain but in each case they seem to come from that same diminishing demographic.. such as the green-party, it is whiter than a No Nukes concert.

Can anyone imagine a political party that could rise up to challenge the Democrat Machine once a few more states are safely in their column?

Maybe you haven't noticed but the democratic party has been trending more and more conservative in many areas. It was Clinton that signed welfare reform legislation. Democrats now take positions regularly that are to the right of former GOP stand-outs like Nixon and even Reagan! On a few issues like gay rights they are following society in general with more liberal attitudes but on most other issues they are not all that progressive any more. There is real potential for a new party to develop to the left of the current democratic party which could be decidedly more progressive. I personally would love to see a truly multi-party system though our current system discourages this. If the choice has to be an alternative party to the democrats, I would not be surprised if it develops to their left!

Thanks for joining the "give no details" club.

Lots of members here but it gets rather boring.

What details? Times change and a lot changes with the times. It's been that way throughout history. It isn't going to stop all of a sudden because of some angry old white men.

Are you talking about the State house in fla?

Because IIRC that has nothing to do with national elections errr the Electoral College.

I was. But if you want to talk about our Congressional delegation, it actually looks very similar. It's 50/50 for the Senators (Sen Nelson is the last Democrat to hold a statewide elected position) and then the GOP takes the House seats on a 75% - 25% basis. That's worse than what you have in California in terms of party dominance. On both the state and the federal office level. And yet, I don't hear Pat complaining about this. Nor do I see you in panic mode over this.

To be fair Pat is not complaining at all about States which are solidly one party such as the New England states, what he is taking note of or objection to is the surging influx of recent immigrants who are at much greater numbers enjoying Government benefits and cash.... which is commonly considered cultivating future votes.

What's this, then?

"In the Golden Land, a state Nixon carried all five times he was on a national ticket and Reagan carried by landslides all four times he ran, the GOP does not hold a single statewide office."

And talking about influx of immigrants - the fastest growing immigrant group in California are Asians. I would have to do some digging here but if I remember correctly, I think that stats show that as a group, Asian immigrants are much less dependent on government cash than natural born citizens. If Pat's and your assertion would be right, this should be fertile ground for Republicans. And yet, the Asian-American vote goes 2-1 to Democrats. Now what?

I am surprised Mr. Buchanan is still working, getting published, and getting paid for it. What happened to his retirement plan?
