Does a Visitor Visa = Birth Certificate?

- Assembling a I-129F packet.

- Girlfriend can not find her birth certificate.

- She is from Mexico and has a visitor visa.

Question:

- When she is interviewed will they accept her visitor visa or will she need to bring a birth certificate?

She needs to get a birth certificate. She is going to need it several more times along the way.

Agreed, nothing can take the place of a birth certificate. She'll have to apply for a new one (and she should get 3 or 4 copies while she is at it).

Why would you think a visitor visa would replace a birth certificate, just curious.

Not just a copy of the birth certificate. but a certified birth certificate. There is no way around it. As someone else pointed out, once here it will be needed (along with a certified translation)
