After Approved, request for initial evidence?

On July 19th hubby was approved during his interview and was told his oath ceremony would be in Beaumont TX. Now today he gets this case status:

On July 30, 2012, we mailed a notice requesting initial evidence in this case. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the evidence requested. Meanwhile, processing of this case is on hold until we either receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once you submit the evidence requested and a decision is made, you will be notified by mail. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

Im curious to know whats up with this, and the only thing I can think of is that every year we owe like $300 in taxes which gets paid by a check and we pay our taxes each year thats due. The IO asked Adam for the reciepts of that which of course we didnt bring bcz we didnt know to bring anything other than our tax transcripts of what we did. Maybe they want copies of the checks??? Anyone have thoughts ??? The IO stamped in red APPROVED on his paperwork and now this message appears!

aww yep! he was sooo handsome! last time I seen him in slacks and dress shirt was for our vow ceremony 4yrs ago when he first came into the USA. : )

But yah I already have the printed copy of the checks for 2011,2010 and now Im calling the bank for a copy of 2009s payment in 2010.

Don't panic, it may only be a glitch in the system or something. But to be safe, maybe you could also order account transcripts from the IRS? They basically show if you actually owe anything or not. If your balance is 0, that should also be a good proof that you paid your taxes and are good to go with the IRS. I got them for myself because we have always used money orders to pay.

well, for sure I hope we are 1 step ahead now! I got 2009-2011 printed copies of checks cashed by the IRS so if thats what they want to see, thats what they will get !!!!

The reason why we think its that bcz the IO didnt look at our house or car insurance or any pictures of vacation or anything else other than saw that each year we owe alittle in taxes and asked for the receipts to which he said he didnt know to bring any receipts but that he's sure I could get them if needed. Im wishing for the best and ready to be done with all this !!!

You stated that you prefer to owe money to IRS and pay it every year. I strongly believe this is why you got an RFE even though he was approved. They asked for something you did not have, now they wana see it

They wana make sure you pay your taxes guys.

I thought that it might be a glitch because she said he was approved and it sounded like a done deal. I know they ask for proof if you have any unpaid taxes that are overdue (IRS correspondence), but it is good to know that they might ask for the proof that you do not owe anything anymore if transcripts show a negative amount, and negative amounts happen. Not everyone gets a refund. That is why I do not understand USCIS...account transcripts would be way better for this purpose because they show the actual account balance after all the adjustments. But I do believe that everything is going to be OK for PalmTreeGurl and her husband. They have the proof, so no worries.

Oh ya I'm sure everything is fine regardless of what they ask for. I had tax transcripts for 2009 & 2010 but not for 2011 since we just filed & paid in April but as I said we didn't know to bring copies of the checks which is what the IO asked Adam about, but as of now I printed them all tonight and put them with each year. This is all what's in my mind what the RFE may be.

And for sure I'll update once we get the letter in the mail. The IO did tell Adam he's approved and to be expecting his oath ceremony letter with the date & time in the mail though.

RFE letter received today says: Examination of your N400 Application for Naturalization shows that certain additional information, documents or forms are needed before your application can be acted upon. Please return this letter with requested information and documents by August 29 2012.

Please submit IRS transcripts for 2011. If you have debt please submit a payment plan from the IRS with the amount owed and proof all payments or current. These documents must come from the IRS (Originals Only)

We called the IRS today & requested the 2011 tax transcripts plus I have the copy of the check that was cashed by the IRS back in April from what we owed for 2011. Does the tax transcripts show all paid because the lady from IRS verified we don't owe anything but I want to make sure that is all we need to submit from the IRS.

There are two types of transcripts that you can order for free from the IRS site: 1) tax return transcript and 2) account transcript. Account transcript is shorter showing that the payment was submitted and that the account balance is 0. It will not hurt if you get both types of transcripts for 2011 and send the check copy as well. That should be absolutely enough.

Thanks! When he had his interview the IO only wanted to see receipts for all 3 years which we didn't know to bring but I do have all that. He only wants the tax transcript for 2011 so once we get that then we'll send it to him with the copy of our check and mail it with delivery confirmation.
