Pawn shop cannot just sell or trade in guns, they need to have a gun dealers license. They are required to have FFL.

Right, and most of the big ones do, so what's the problem? The small pawn shops don't sell ammo anyway so this won't change anything?

what next.... the legislation is also going to put a restriction on how much brass, primer, bullet and gun powder one can buy?

Then dumb liberals wonder why gun lobbying has to spend so much money... coz they come up with some of the dummest idea.

If you look in your local regulations, you mind find your powder is already limited (check your fire district). In my area I'm limited to one pound of BP and I think 20 pounds of smokeless - though its a bit vague as it doesn't use the term "per person" or "per household"

I don't mind providing my Id during the purchase, which most of us does anyway knowing or unknowingly, the problem is that some stupid lawmaker has to have kneejerk reaction and come up with stupid regulation on how much ammo can one buy and where they can buy.

Yea there is a upper limit, 20 lbs would be plenty... it would easily go over 1000 rounds.

maybe if you're a young'in you are flashing id.

i haven't been asked for id when purchasing ammo in quite a few years .. even at walmart

there is one exception though, that's when purchasing M2 ball and .22 lr from CMP. doesn't matter the quantity .... there again i need to provide more info than a simple id to CMP.

California used to make you sign for ammo and for powder. I haven't bought any in a long while, and I think they stopped doing that, the last few times I did.

I think for powder you still do.

In a way people who pay online provide ID - you have to pay by card or paypal etc. All your personal details are there.

personal data is available at the banking institution for the cardholder. the vendor doesn't get to view the personal information.

the vendor only cares that the card is in good standing (can be properly charged) and is provided a ship-to address.

example #1:

pm me your cc number (a good card with lots of balance left to use) and i'll buy some cool toys for the twins. i'm sure the vendor will be more than happy to bill the card and send me the stuff.

not to worry ... i'll have the boys draw you a thank-you note.

(safe haven notice: please don't send me your cc info ....)

example #2

someone steals your cc number. buys stuff

Thats reason I said in most cases it can be traced to person, how did u pay for the Ammo?

Credit/ debit card - certainly know who you are... lot of stores like Academy ask for your phone number (obviously if someone wants to commit fraud there are ways no system is fool proof).

Some stores have loyalty card... using that would give ones identity.

Natty – The retail vendor or the store is not really interested in tracking how much ammo or powder you bought.

The new legislation is for the Govt to track how much you bought, which means if they go to banking institution and they would share all your details with them – that’s one way.

Second way is they want you to show your Id while buying the Ammo just like how you buy pseudoephedrine or other cold medication.

Even lawmaker introduce such legislation is dumb.

aka: backdoor registration.

the gov't would have the firearm "class" based on ammo type and who may own the firearm. the data may not be 100% accurate though it would be close

and i'm sure the gov't would keep that information safe and secure so joe citizen or any other entity doesn't have access to who may own what type of firearm

heck ...even the non savory types wouldn't want access to all that boring data ... it would be too much of a bother knowing which homes have guns ...

i can also envision a run on wheel weights in parking lots and depletion of fishing weights, solder, and other sources of casting materials.
