Hello everyone I wanna tell you all my story.

Yes I'm in love I met her 14 months ago and we just can't stay apart so we're talking about finding a solution to the problem. Here's what I came up with, I live in Italy she lives in the States, we can't stay apart I wanna spend the rest of my life nearby her whether it's Italy or the States so why not get married and solve everything? Well she doesn't wanna leave her family and come here so I guess I'd have to move out from this beautiful place but how? I thought about it searched the web for it and came to conclusion that I would love to marry her here in Italy, but we don't have enough money so we won't do any church ceremony for the moment but just the civil marriage. So she comes here in Italy we get married what happens next? Does she have to eventually go back to the States? Can she live here with me married for a while until I get the proper visa so then we can both departure and move? If not and she has to get back what happens? What do I do to get a visa without my wife here with me? So I looked up for it and CR1 came up and I think that's the option? Any opinions? Do you guys think that's the right move for us? Is there any other better way to live together without staying apart? We don't have enough money mainly because I lost my job here and trying to survive pretty much looking for a easy and cheapy way too.. What's the best solution for us?

CR1 is the correct path after marriage. She can stay with you. She will have to satisfy the affidavit of support requirements.

Thank you for the information I actually wanna add something I live with my parents they're supporting me through this tough time and she lives with her grandma, so eventually when we'll get married she'll be here with my family and when we'll move to the states we'll live with her grandma, would that be an issue in the path to get the visa?

Than I gather grandma will be your co-sponsor. As mentioned study the guide so you know if grandma or whoever will sponsor meets the poverty guidelines of income. She can stay with no no problem the whole process which will be anywhere from 8 to 12 months at best.

OP is the beneficiary. His grandma won't be able to sponsor. (assuming she is not a US citizen)

ok but what about her grandma income .. if it is below the limits she wont be able to sponsor us.. what would happen?

Then you would need to find another sponsor. Whoever you choose needs to be a USC or LPR and meet the guidelines for their household plus you. So until you can meet the Affidavit of support your petition can not move forward when you get t that point.

i get it but what would that be i mean how much annual income would she have to have to support us both to get the approval? And what if she don't reach that limit? what else could i do to get the cr1 or even another kind of visa that would allow me to move in the states and live with her? I mean if that doesn't work there has to be another way right?

For 2 people its about $19330. Now say grandma sponsors you its whoever she supports (claims on her taxes plus you) so it may be 2 maybe more depends on who she claims.

If you or your co-sponsor do not reach the guideline you will be denied. There is no other KIND of visa to move to the US.

damn that's a lot, so if she had to support me and my gf would be almost 20000 a year and if she's below that i cant move in with her.. unless i get a place on my own? but if i cant prove that i can support myself in that place they wouldnt approve it either and how could i support myself if starting here i dont have currently a job and when i get there i would have to start looking for one.. i mean its complicated.. cant they just trust on u that you'll find a job and move out asap once i get there? it would be soooo easy that way wouldnt it?

If the Grandmother is having to support herself, and you and your girlfriend, the figure is 23,862 for a household of three. That 19,090 number is for active duty military personnel, which I would think she would not be. Given the cost of living here, that number is the bare minimum.

If she hasn't that income, then you are going to need another sponsor.

No they can't just trust that you will find a job asap, the job market isn't that good for one thing. They will not take your word that you are going to work as soon as you are able.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Thats not how immigration based Visas work. You have to look at who does grandma claim on taxes? If she is also claiming your wife that thats 3 people. So you are looking at what $23000 or so.

It doesn't matter if you can show you can support yourself. The US citizen has to show support by themselves or the help of others co-sponsors to show the US government you will not become a public charge.

Trust you say. Yes in a perfect world so true.

So let me get this straight, I cant move in if the income dont reach at least 23000 but i can claim in another person who has that income.. lets say i find another sponsor, how about a friend who can support me and reach that income, although that would mean i wont be moving in with my wife but i'll be living with that friend (sponsor), so as a married spouse they would approve it because i am married to a us citizen and because my sponsor, even though is not related to my wife, can support me? Right?
