My fiancee has a schedule interview for August but is having to take care of her Mom who is ill and trying to pay some bills off before coming. So she wants to reschedule for January which is six months from now. First of all, will the embassy allow this? Is this way too far out? Has anybody had or heard of the embassy allowing to reschedule this far out? Will her Visa get denied? I know the embassy will allow to reschedule but I am just not sure this far out. Please reply. thank you

Not sure, but the NOA2 does have an expiration date. For instance our NOA2 says: "Valid from 06/26/2012 to 10/25/2012." So it may be possible that rescheduling will invalidate the petition. Why not go to the interview in August? After all, once she has the visa, she has a six month window to fly to the U.S.

I try to explain that to her but she is adamant on going in January. She just wants to make sure everything is taken care of first and that her contract with her job does not end until the end of the year. I had someone reply to me from the embassy and told me I can reschedule and at that time they will determine if they will validate or not my petition. Thanks for your reply.

Since the NOA2 has an expiration date then you'd be taking a big risk re-scheduling for such a later date. Since the beneficiary has six months to use her visa to enter the US, she could re-schedule for September, October or even keep her August interview and she would still be able to fly and enter the country as early as February, way after the end of the year and January which is when she wants to go to the interview.
