Hello all,

We have the NOA2 now in our hands, I have to go for my interview by nov 11 of this year. I am so excited of course!!!! I do have a question though, once I am handed my k1 visa from the counsulate in Vancouver, do I have 90 days from that day to get married, or is my K1 visa valid for six months and once I use it, I have 90 days from that point? I am a bit confused, my fiance who is in the states called the uscis office and really confused me with her answeres from them. As well as, if the latter is the case, how do I file for an extension for my interview?

All the help is appretiated.

Thanks!

The visa is good for entry into the US for 6 months. Once you enter the country, you have 90 days to get married.

Good luck!

Welcome to the forum.

Additionally, the K-1 visa is a one-time use only visa. For example, you can enter the US one time on the K-1, you cannot enter, leave, and then return again.

Good luck on your visa journey.

Hello fellow Canadian!

True & true... Validity date will be on the VISA page of your passport. (approx. 6 months).

Calculate mine out, and it's actually 5 months + 18 days..

Link ---> Number of Days between Dates Calculator

As mentioned previously, 1 entry into the USA when you 'activate the VISA'.

Whenever you 'activate the VISA', upon entry to the USA, you then will have 90 days to get married.

Re: Extending you interview.... you can reschedule your interview date.

From the CSC site (link----> CSC Visa FAQ)

How does an applicant reschedule or cancel an appointment? After the applicant schedules an appointment, the confirmation screen and confirmation email will show a date and time by which any changes to the appointment (reschedule or cancellation) must be made. To reschedule or cancel the appointment, the applicant may log in to the system using the passport number, date of birth and nationality prior to that date/time. Once the applicant logs in, they may select cancel or reschedule from the options on the Applicant Summary page.

How many times can an applicant change the appointment date? The applicant may change the appointment date as many times as needed before the reschedule/cancel deadline in the confirmation email.

Cheers & Happy Journeys!
