I am sorry, but you are talking out of your ####. Jerusalem is already the capital!!!

I could explain the issue, but it's a waste of energy.

Then something must be wrong. Someone ought to tell these poeple their Embassies are in the wrong place.

I could explain the issue, historically, but it would be a waste.

It would still cost a lot of money to change everything to being in Jerusalem. Meanwhile we can't afford teachers here in USA.

Teachers are superfluous. Building embassies on the other hand is a great idea. There are Israelis without jobs, you know...

It's the gift that keeps on giving.... Romney's entire trip could very well be one big skit of SNL...

Romney Offends Israel and Palestine With Economic Comparison

"And as I come here and I look out over this city and consider the accomplishments of the people of this nation, I recognize the power of at least culture and a few other things," Romney told a group of about 40 high-rolling U.S. citizens in Jerusalem on Monday morning. He referenced an innovative business climate and the Jewish people’s history of overcoming adversity.

Both, he said, helped explain Israel’s economic dominance over the Palestinian territories of Gaza and the West Bank. According to the World Bank, Israel’s gross domestic product per capita hovers around $31,000. In the Palestinian territories, it’s a significantly lower, around $10,000, depending on several different estimates.

<a name="body_text3" style="visibility:hidden">But what seemed like a factual way to lavish praise on wealthy Israelis, seemed to cloak the end of Romney’s Israeli tour in a series of negative news stories, in which both Israelis and Palestinians argued that Romney misunderstood the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

“It seems to me [Romney] lacks information, knowledge, vision, and understanding of this region and its people,” Saeb Erekat, a senior aide to Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas, told The Associated Press. “He also lacks knowledge about the Israelis themselves.”

Oh dear. Stopping the media following him on this trip hasn't helped.

He really reminds me of Palin, he's like a headless chicken.

Romney is pandering to the (probably more right-wing) Israelis here (and the Jewish community in the USA). The international community does not recognize Jerusalem as the capital largely because it views the acquisition of East Jerusalem as illegal (happened during the Six Day War in 1967). I'm sure there is more to it than that, but that has a lot to do with it.

So in saying he wants to move the embassy to Jerusalem, Romney is sending a very strong message that he will support Israel. In doing so, he also sent a very strong, undesirable message to the Palestinians - in short, you have no rights to this land.

Stirring the pot. Just what is needed in Israel...

All he is trying to do is attract the Israeli community in USA away from voting from Obama. He obviously didn't think through the ramifications of making such a ridiculous statement. He has demonstrated that his knowledge of foreign affairs is 0, this is Sarah Palin all over again. As I said previously, it seems that upsetting Palestine fits with his desire to start a war with Iran.

He is provoking their neighboring countries and throwing the Israelis under the bus all the while alienating our west European allies with this one-sided decision.

It is so easy to stir somebody else's pot...

I am sure the Israelis are not buying whatever it is he is selling. They were nonplussed with his foot-in-mouth display...

I hope not. This whole tour seems to have been a disaster. Has he made a positive impact anywhere? This reminds me when he came to the south and tried to win us over by saying y'all, wearing blue jeans and pretending he ate catfish. Then he left the south before the results even came in, couldn't wait to get away!

From vacations on jet skis to sitting by the pool with his IPad and now this...

I'm not so sure. The statement about moving the embassy to Jerusalem is either (a) a pretty sophisticated way of showing loyalty to Israel or (b) a bumbling idiot thinking 'Hey Jerusalem's a pretty interesting city with lots of historical significance. Why, the capital should be here, and I'm so excited about that idea that I'm going to proclaim it to the world!'

I hope for the Republicans and Mitt's sake that it's choice A.

Still, yes, pandering to the Jewish vote.
