Hi all,

Wondering if anyone can give some insight in to how long I might have to wait. I know answers are it depends or whatever, but hoping for some clarification however slight.

I am a DV lottery winner. I had my interview on the 7th of June which seemed to go well, although I had to get a new passport.

I wasn't able to get a new passport to the 17th, which I sent via the loomis location in Dorval the same day.

It is marked as received on the 18th. I know that in Montreal mail is sorted off-site, but it was marked as received at a place about a 5 min drive or 15 minute walk from the consulate. So surely it cannot be that much of a delay?

The suspension is killing me. Is there any way I can possibly get an indication of how long it will be? It's been just over a week and no update...will it be another week, or maybe 6?

I'm sure this has been asked before, as I said just hoping for some clarification, perhaps also not to feel so helpless while I wait since I have not technically been approved yet.

Cheers

They are really slow so I would guess closer to 6 weeks and keep my fingers cross to get it earlier.

No 1 can really give you an answer....in short, don't make any plans until you have it in hand!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
