Hi VJer's,

I was hoping to get some questions regarding Packet 3.

I am currently in the US with my fiance for a few more days before going back to Australia. We received our NOA2 on the 17th July, I called the NVC exactly a week later and was provided my case number starting with SYD..

I have since organised both my medical (which will be on the 7th Aug and my police check will be done on the 6th Aug). We have also obtained all I-134 documents and requirements and I will be bringing those back with me as well, along with a copy of our I-129F and supporting documents for my interview.

We have yet to receive the Packet 3 info.. I was assuming since my fiance provided his email address they would be sending it to him via email.

Mainly my question is, am I able to pre-fill out all the documents required for Packet 3 and bring them back to Australia with me, then send it off with my case number to the consulate once I am back in Sydney?

I am assuming the documents required are these:

If I am missing anything, or this can be done - or if you have successfully done this any information would be great! I am trying to move things along as quickly as possible!

Thank you in advance! :)

Yes, for the most part. DS-156 has to be filled out online. Read the directions here for your consulate.

http://canberra.usembassy.gov/fiance_niv_appl.html

You will find everything there.

Good luck

EDIT: yes you have the correct information. Make sure you get a copy of the NOA2 to take with you also. Some consulates require a copy of that.

Thanks for that!

Yep, already have the original and a photocopy of the NOA2!

No you cannot send the documents until you receive P3. Even though you KNOW what documents you require, they will toss your forms out because they won't have the file yet. He will receive the email with P3 and THEN you can send the docs per the link.

Call NVC again and find out if they've sent your file to sydney yet. Sometimes they can take a while to send it on.

**Update**

Today we received the email with the Packet 3 info (yay :D ), luckily for me I had filled out and printed all these documents yesterday and are ready to go.

I have a couple of question on Packet 3

1. Do I need to wait for my medical and police check results and send them along with Packet 3? Or do they get sent directly to the consulate from where I have them done?

2. Can I send DS-230 (Part 1) along with Packet 3, or does this have to be mailed separately as on the form they said it needs to be received ASAP.

Thanks again!

1. Yes for at least the medical, the police check depends on your state but normally yes as well

2. You CAN yes, but if you're still waiting on the medical and police check you should send it now. If you had P3 ready to go (ALL the docs) then you could send it together.

Great, thank you.

I have another question, this whole packet 3 is starting to confuse me.

The DSL-1076 check-list asks for "Documents required by Consulate" and "Document attached" tick list. It asks for Birth Cert original and photocopy and Australian Police certificate original and photocopy.. Does this need to be sent along with Packet 3, or is this taken with me for the interview? I had my police check today and they are sending everything directly to the consulate, so I won't be able to get a photocopy?

Also, do I send the I-134 along with Packet 3, or is this too taken with me for the interview?

It's so confusing I just want to make sure I'm sending the right things off at the right time.

Yep those are all supposed to be sent with P3 (inc I-134) but as you know some police checks go straight to the embassy so just write "sent direct to embassy" and that should be fine.

It's all on that link you should have been sent.
