I just wanted some input on a experience that occurred recently. I applied for my wife (philippine citizen staying in Canada as W-1) to just come and visit before i start the I-130 process. I did the DS 160 online and got the interview date easily. She went to the interview with all documents requested. The interviewer ask some basic questions. He asked her who she was going to visit and she replied " my husband in the USA" the interviewer immediately told her he can not grant a visa at this time. And he remarked that " your husband should get you as his wife"

she was given the PINK SLIP which stated the generic ... not enough evidence for return trip to Canada.... Even though she had a letter from her employer stated her contract was not up til March 2013. My wife was going to visit me here in October 2012 for just 1 month stay.

Is it really this difficult for my wife to come and visit.

First bravo for your wonderful wife telling the truth. And yep it can be diffucult. Since you have to show STRONG country ties. Once you have a USC spouse it makes it very hard to show you would return. They feel your strong ties are now with your spouse. And during the Visa process is even more harder. Now that they have it on record you can forget her being able to come here. Sorry.

However, maybe some have been able to from Phillipines show string country ties with spouse in US. I hope so for you. All the best.

Hi there! I tried getting Tourist Visa last month and I was granted a Multiple Entry for 10 years:-). We don't intend to stay in the US so we prefer TV.

God bless! She can always try again. I was denied last year and tried again then I was granted this wonderful blessing.

Unfortunately in past ppl with similar situation where one of the spouse has mis-used the tourist visa granted to them.

They would provide all the proof they are going to return back and would not file for AOS while in US on tourist visa, as soon as they pass the POE the thoughts change and now they do not want to return back.

Unfortunately cases like that have created this issue where spouse of USC can hardly ever get a tourist visa.

At least it is not too far for you to visit her.
