She's kept herself in the spotlight, just as much as the media has. She had a reality tv show, her daughter has her own reality tv show, her daughter was on Dancing With the Stars, where Sarah Palin showed up a few times ... let's not act like this woman doesn't love the spotlight. Come on.

What I took from the posters comment regarding Hillary is that she should not be offended by being called a lesbian because liberals consider homosexuality to be a normal lifestyle, so why would a liberal woman consider it insulting to be called a lesbian? If homosexuality is normal and Hillary is a woman, then where is the insult?

You have it back to front. The issue there isn't whether someone should be offended by being called gay, it's why someone would use homosexuality as an insult to begin with.

Why frame it on how how someone might perceive it? Perception is irrelevant - this is about intent.

The reason SNL had a field day with Palin was because she is/was an idiot. She only has herself to blame for that.

When people called Palin an idiot they were judging her on the basis on her performance on TV, a performance that suggested that she wasn't particularly knowledgeable about world affairs and didn't understand major issues of the day. All of these things suggested that she probably wasn't a good choice to put in the number 2 seat. What has come out since then (e.g. public arguments in the media between her and her daughter's ex, allegations of unethical/illegal behaviour when she was Governor) then really has only compounded that.

This is different to referring to female politicians using sexist and misogynist language. That has absolutely nothing to do with a reasoned appraisal of their competence. Someone described Palin earlier as a "walking ovary" - that's a good example of this.

Come on man. Stay on target. Obviously I was referring specifically your comment about her being called a lesbian. No where in the post that I replied to did you even mention anything about insults to her family. Nice diversion tactic though, well not really.

Clinton was called a lesbian and all kinds of things, she did nothing to deserve any of it. Palin made epic mistakes which were picked up by the media constantly, this was only because she couldn't stop making herself look like the idiot she is. Apples and oranges.

I believe the issue is why would a liberal who believes homosexuality is a normal way of life be offended by someone calling her a lesbian? The intent was to insult her with that term because the person making the insult does not believe homosexuality is normal.
