Race transcends class in this country. My "bubble" consists of middle-class and upper middle class people of many races and there are still racial stereotypes and resentments just beneath the surface. All it takes is a few drinks and the illusion of safety and it all comes out.

Reducing the rich/poor divide is fine as long as you don't penalize the rich simply for being rich. It's not the responsibility of the rich to make the poor richer, it is up to the poor to step up and make strides to better themselves. As long as there are race baiters like Sharpton and Jackson, the rich/poor divide will always be racially charged.

Well again it's not simple is it. If you mean 'punish the rich' by having them pay more tax via the assumption that they can pay more, that's hardly a profound realisation. The argument is usually how much the rich should be expected to pay, not whether they should pay more. That part is a given.

Especially given that there's a fair bit of legitimate blame on the banking classes for getting us into the economic 5hit.

I wonder what would have happened to the womans movement if Hillary got elected. Would anyone man who questioned her policies be labeled as a male chauvanist pig? (I doubt it)

thats horseshit & you know it. the 'old order' elected the man. since then, everytime someone has had a difference of opinion they're labeled a racist. that has set race relations back.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."
