Hi all. Okay here's my issue.

The lawyer told my fiance to wait for 3 weeks upon noa2 date and we should hear something from NVC by then. It'll be the 3rd week tomorrow but we got no notice yet. A friend of ours (who has the same noa2 date as ours) got their case # by calling NVC. We are so tempted to call the NVC but we fear that if something goes wrong the lawyer might blame us in the end because we're doing steps without his go signal.. Its so annoying, I dont know what to do.:(

We waited one week and started calling NVC for our case number. AFter a week of calling we finally got our case number as the auto system starting spitting out the case number etc. There is nothing preventing you from calling NVC... I say go for it! There isn't anything that would go wrong except you get the case number before the lawyer....

Nothing can go wrong by calling. They either have the case number now and will give it to you by phone, Or they don't have it yet. Most mailings go out to attorney, so maybe he has it or will receive it.

It might take 3 weeks for NVC to receive it. Call like Tuesday to see if they have it. My notice from NVC arrive super late. I already got number and tracked case to the consulate. There no harm by calling. Actually that what your lawyer should do. If they did not receive notice in 3-4 weeks then it possible to take some actions.

It takes average 3-4 weeks from CSC to NVC. You can start calling.

Nothing is wrong with calling once a day to check if they have received your case. Only that the fact that it can take 15-30 minutes to get to talk to an operator.

There's no harm in calling... makes sense. :) We are just confused and scared of making mistakes that could eventually harm our case that's why we're so exaggeratedly careful. Thanks for encouraging me. LOL.

I'll tell my fiance to call NVC this Monday! And if by chance we get to have our case number thru calling, we'll just let the lawyer know before we push through with the the next steps. Gosh I'm nervous.. Thank you all! :)

It is your money and the lawyer works for you. Not you them. Call... get your case#. You didn't need the lawyer to begin with.!

I think filing for the K-1 is super stressful...probably more stressful than even planning the wedding! You probably think that if you make one mistake on the form that you could be delayed, but honestly it's a straight forward process. I think it's just the fear of the unknown. I know when we filed we both were freaking out. We were afraid we'd mess up and he'd be banned or something (honestly, and my husband has 0 record at all, not even a parking ticket). My husband insisted on a lawyer much to my chagrin. All that stress and fear was really not warranted. Unless you have a special circumstance or are filing from a country on the US watch list, the process is straight forward.

Don't fret and call if you'd like! Good luck!

Total elapsed time between filing I-129F to GC in hand 569 days or 1 Year, 6 months, 22 days.

i recevied noa2 on july 17. i called nvc on july 27. and asked for my nvc casenumber, my beneficary id and invoice number.... make sure you ask for all 3 and ask if your applicaiton has gone to the consulate.

dont be afraid to call. your the boss... lawyers are just your confidence booster to make sure you feel comfortable with this process. i did everything on my own with no lawyer and the visajourney team.. visajourney is way better than a lawyer.. in the end you end up doing all the work.... the lawyer just collects the money.. good luck.. call today.. dont wait any longer.... you want to know where your case is at.. you have waited this long.. the nvc guys are super nice.... make sure you have your beneficiary birthdate and petitoner birthdate. also receipt number 1.
