I'd personally like a big fat Target right around the corner from me...

I like Target too. I go there for everyday clothes. Sears Essentials (formerly Kmart) too.

And Target was or still has stores with medical clinics and not a word is hardly said about it. Wal-Mart does it and they get a bunch of grief about it. With Wal-Mart no good deed goes unpunished.

If I didn't have health insurance and needed to see a doctor I would be willing to give the clinic at Wal-Mart a try.

TARGET has medical clinics too?????????????????????? I've been in the city too long! LOL The only stores I've seen with health clinics are Petco. PetSmart, etc...

But if I had an ear infection or sore throat or summat, I might consider going to Wal-mart/Target if it meant getting quicker and cheaper service than my doc...that might be tough because my doc is convenient and my co-pay is only $10 per visit, so.........

More and more stores — from small-scale chains like Bultez’ local Hy-Vee to megamarkets like Wal-Mart and Target — have started trial runs with in-store medical clinics.

The in-store clinics hope to evoke the idea of convenience with their very names — Quick Care at the Omaha Hy-Vee; RediClinic, controlled by Revolution and one of four providers for Wal-Mart; and MinuteClinic, which has 70 clinics in CVS pharmacies, Target Stores and Cub Foods supermarkets.

My Target, WalMart, KMart, etc have never offered anything like a health clinic... that's interesting. Never heard of it.

I do use the optical department at wallyworld... cheaper for my contacts (which are oh my god expensive anyway because i wear the 30 day night and day disposables).

And hey, even when we have the money to shop elsewhere we still use WalMart for household stuff... and clothes too. Can't beat the clearance aisle.

It is possible that the poster who said that lives in a town where there aren't enough doctors.

Where I live, doctors are a dime a dozen.

I didn't think of it that way. we still have a ton of doctors too even tho we are losing more and more because of malpractice insurance issues.

I have never gotten to see my doctor same day! Both times when i was really sick (ear infection first time, and what i thought was a kidney infection the other) she could only get me in next day! And we got plenty of doctors around here! i've never actually gone to another doctor, but i dont want to try and find another one cause I dont have insurance and my doctor has always been really nice at giving me some kind of discount. and i do like her...

but, if i were to have a walmart health clinic i would definately be interested in using something like that!

I'm dirt poor and I don't go to walmart for ideological reasons. Plus the time and gas (and headache) I would have to use getting all the way out to where the store is seriously undermines the (minimal) savings. Not to mention that my support for smaller, local businesses helps ensure that I will continue to be able to make that choice. Screw walmart. Screw target too.
