You really need some lessons on the Christian faith if you want to try and talk about it. First of all, the old testament is the Jewish bible. It is included with the New Testament for context and history. Christians no longer "follow" it as what God commands us to do. Gods relationships to man is a series of "Covenants". The first one was with Adam and Eve. The next was with the sons of Noah. The last one was with the Son of God, Jesus, with mankind. This is the last and only applicable covenant that Christians are required to follow. All of the nonsense in the old testament about stoning gays was overturned with the New Covenant in Christ Jesus. Jesus taught us to forgive one another as He has forgiven us. We do not hate anyone including the gay people. In reality a true Christian is required to forgive EVERYONE that sins, regardless of the "severity" of the sin.

Oh, one more thing. A sin is a sin. There are no "big time" sins. Murder is the same as a lie. Both will prevent a human from gaining entry into heaven. That is why Jesus died on the cross. He took on the sins of the world so we could all be forgiven. "No man comes to the Father except by the Blood Of Christ".

Is it safe to assume you're not a Catholic?

"Christians no longer follow...." <---- Is that some kind of new age Christian thinking there? God doesn't like homosexuality. It's mentioned in both the Old and the New Testaments. And where do you think Christianity evolved from? Jesus was a Jew. The New Testament is like a continuation. Homosexuality is an abomination...that's a big time sin. So if you think two guys getting it on is ok with God then your wrong. There's only one official rule book for Christians and that's the Holy Bible. No new age bs is going to change that. It's not the iPhone Bible, it's the Holy Bible.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

No, but that really has nothing to do with it if you understand what the Bible is really saying. I was raised American Baptist. Right now I am attending a Lutheran church but my beliefs come from my own studies and readings of the Bible.

The Holy Bible is black and white on homosexuality. It's covers it in both Testaments and more than a few times. Not much thinking to do there. You can't bend it, and you can't twist it. It is what it is.

It isn't a "New Age Christian Thinking". It is the word of Jesus himself.

What is the New Covenant?

What does the word mean?

The word covenant means:

"a written agreement or promise . . . between two or more parties, especially for the performance of some action" (Webster's Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary).

This word expresses the fundamental meaning of both the Old Testament Hebrew word berith (Strong's Concordance #H1285 meaning a compact or contract between two parties) and the New Testament Greek word diatheke (Strong's Concordance #G1242 meaning a contract)

"The covenant . . . is an act of grace on God's part for reconciling man to himself, but man's response should not be overlooked" (Smith's Bible Dictionary).

What is the first agreement between God and man?

God created man with the potential to have a relationship with Him (Genesis 1:26-27). He has therefore initiated many conditional and unconditional agreements with man. Since God wants us to obey Him, many of these contracts stress the necessity of obedience as a condition to receiving what He promises.

The first Biblical mention of a covenant between man and his Maker is found in Genesis 6 where God promises to spare Noah and his family from the impending worldwide deluge:

"But I will establish My covenant with you; and you shall go into the ark - you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you." (Genesis 6:18, NKJV throughout)

Although this was primarily an act of God's grace (Genesis 6:8), Noah's responsiveness to God was also a significant factor (Genesis 6:9). God also promised to never again destroy the earth with water:

"And God said: 'This is the sign of the covenant which I make between Me and you, and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:

"'I set My RAINBOW in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign . . . It shall be, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the RAINBOW shall be seen in the cloud . . . the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. " (Genesis 9:12-15)

Why is it a NEW Covenant?

Jeremiah 31 prophesies:

"'Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a NEW covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah — not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt . . .

". . . I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.' ” (Jeremiah 31:31-34)

Mankind sins daily. Homosexuality is just one of a myriad of sins. That sin is no different than looking at a pretty girl and wishing you could have her. They all will condemn you. You seem hung up on some sins being worse than others. They are all equally bad.

And it says it is OK for Chick-Fil-A to lie for monetary gain too.

Not really. In the USA the official book of rules for everyone is the Holy Constitution and Sacred Bill of Rights.

What does the USA have to do with it? Was Christ running for president of the USA back then? And did he use his iPAD? One official rule book for Christians.

Are you being selective in your outrage? Do you follow all the tenets of the Bible?

Sorry man, you really have it all wrong.

Do you want me to quote on here what the Holy Bible says about homosexuality? If you can read English then it shouldn't be a problem understanding what the Holy Bible says in regards to Homosexuality. The Holy Bible is Gods word.

Again there is no gray area about Homosexuality in regards to the Holy Bible's take on it.
