Hey, Im New, So im sorry if this topic is in the wrong post area! O_O

Well to start, IM coming from Ireland, and going to North Carolina! IM applying for a Tourist Visa and i think thats all i need.

But uhm I need some Help with Visas and such, Im traveling to the U.S.A Soon and i know i need a passport which is being processed atm & a Tourist Visa is the best option to go with which lets me stay up to 90days, But when im there, Can i reapply for my Visa and like.. Get another? which will do me for another 90days? Instead of coming back home? I called the U.s Embassy Here in Ireland and they told me that a Tourist visa of £14.00 Will do me for up to 90days Butwhet if i want to stay longer than that when im there? I was hoping i could Apply for another before it runs out in the U.s.

Also, When i get to the Airport (IM Travleing to Charlotte,NC to see my Girlfriend) Will they stop me and ask to see my Visa? How Much money do i Have? (do i need like a certain amount before they'll let me in the country?) or what questions do they ask you?? I know they arent hard on Irish people and are mostly hard on Afganastan people? lol Im not sure..

Thnx!! :D

Why can;t you use the Visa Waiver program that Irish citizens normally use?

You cannot extend your stay on the VWP while in the US, you'll have to leave and attempt another entrance

Good luck

If i wanted to stay then, what do i need?? Visa wise? greencards are only every year which is a bummer.

It is very very difficult to get a visa to the USA unless you have close relatives who are US citizens or greencard holders, or are an Irish coitizen in full time 3rd level education, so you can get a J1. You cannot just go there on the visa waiver program, or a tourist visa, and stay or get a visa that allows you to work. For work visas, you need to be highly skilled and find an employer who will sponsor you.

"greencards are only every year" - do you mean the greencard lottery? Keep in mind your chances of winning are slim.

what is pulling you to go to the US for more than 90 days?

If you want to stay? Well honestly that doesn't matter, what matters is what you are authorized to do. If you are permitted 90 days in the US, then you must leave after 90 days, regardless of what you want

Good luck

It isnt very hard to obtain a visa??.. I have called the U.s Embassy here in ireland and they have told me that a £14.00 Tourist Visa Will be enough for me to go and stay for 90days in the U.S.A, which is the one i am getting. im just asking questions about IF i wanted to stay? what would i need to do/goto to do it.or how much. and about the tourist visa, do they stamp it and then it starts? or how does that work?

Maybe for a country like Ireland it is easy to get a visa, but not every country is the same. If you want to stay in the US apply for an immigrant visa. To use a tourist visa to come to the US and stay is visa fraud and you will reap what you sow. You can come and stay up to 90 days should the CBP stamp your visa for that period of time. After that you must leave and re-enter the US. Now should you come back right away, this is when you will find that even for first class countries like Ireland, UK, Canada, and other EU countries the CBP will be more watchful and may not let you into the US. Maybe not on the second trip, but have a pattern of spending more time in the US than Ireland you will find yourself on a plane back to Ireland and there may be consequences like not being able to use the VWP, or applying for a tourist visa for a year, etc.

No one here will tell you how to stay in the US on a tourist visaas that violates the VJ TOS to use a tourist visa for immigration as I said before that is visa fraud. Look into getting an immigration visa if you want to immigrate to the US.

EB5 was my thought as well.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Tourist/visiting implies a short duration and a return home. US immigration isn't set up for a come and hang out for a while with the boyfriend/girlfriend type of visa. Every person seeking entry is assumed to have immigrant intent. You may need to show proof of ties to home (school, job, property) to the US CBP officer.

When you pass through US customs (CBP) they will stamp your passport and give you a date that you visit ends. It's up to the agent how long a stay you will be granted. If you're leaving from Ireland, you will go through US customs at the airport there.

You can apply to extend you stay once you arrive in the US. Do some searching on the USCIS website for the procedure.

The 90 thing is NOT a visa. It is a visa waiver for tourist or very limited business activity. You cannot stay after the 90 days, you cannot work, you cannot live over there. It is just an electronic record, like you say (you need to fill out ESTA: https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/ ), and the 90 days start when you arrive in the USA.

You are giving the impression that you want to move to the USA. If that is not the case and you only want a holiday for up to 90 days then yes, it is easy for an Irish citizen. Anything more- very difficult.
