I filed I-130 for both my parents on May 1, 2012; I sent then in the separate brown envelop but the same envelop from the post office. Now my mom's I-130 has been approved since June 12, 2012 and nothing yet for my dad. What should i do now? Should i call them and ask about my dad's application? I know my dad's will take longer at the embassy because his name is not on the birth certificate so, i am worried that if I go ahead and start the process at NVC for mom then she will have to leave before him. I have no idea how long the DNA process takes in Jamaica. I thought they would have processed both papers at the same time. I am stumped.

I have no answer but just wanted to tell you that I'm proud of you for what you're doing.

Great job.

She may have to get the interview and visa before him, but she doesn't necessarily need to leave before him. The visa will likely be good for six months. DNA testing could take a while. Unless you hear about your dad's case soon, I would just go ahead with your mom's case. She could wait until his visa is given prior to coming to the USA if she prefers as long as she enters the USA prior to it's expiration. Good Luck.

DONT WORRY, I had the same problem last month, my dads application went to NVC and mother's application stuck at USCIS. You might get a fee invoice from NVC to pay for your mothers application so they can process it further...DONT DO THAT if you want, or else your mothers case at NVC would be step ahead than your father's case. in my case even though i filed together for them, my father's application was received by NVC after 21 days from my mothers application from USCIS...it takes some time..i was told by NVC that they have contacted to USCIS and USCIS was suppose the send the case again to NVC...which they did finally...call everyday to USCIS AND NVC AND keep on asking about the status...later on once they received that, they can link it together at NVC..so their interview would be together...THIS ALL HAPPENED TO ME LAST MONTH..very recent experience for you...I WAS UPSET TOOO.. BUT NOW WAITNG FOR INTERVIEW DATES...

Thank you raypatel335 that was very helpful. I am planning on calling USCIS on Monday but will customer service be able to help? Mom is getting all the necessary papers together, I will get them in a few weeks.

Thank you Mike and Lily and Gowon for your speedy replies, glad to know that you guys are there and have your own input on things.

Thanks much y'all.

Call and email USCIS SERVICE CENTER, where you had send your I-130, emailid should be on their contact list..also email NVC stating that both the cases should have come together to NVC, whats that status on the other one...20 business days thats their usual time limit, and then after even NVC can contact USCIS on behalf of you..

This was the reply i got from NVC..they are very helpful but tough to get..

"Dear Sir/Madam:

Please be advised that the National Visa Center (NVC) contacted U.S.

Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) to locate your approved

petition. USCIS has informed the NVC, that your petition will be en

route to the NVC. Once we have received your petition, the appropriate

agent will receive further instructions within 6 to 8 weeks.

Sincerely,

Jess

National Visa Center

NVCResearch@state.gov "

Also mean time, if your fathers I-130 has been approved and you have approval notice with you, attached that with your email to NVC, they will ask for it and it might be handy for them to locate that particular case

Goodluck

Both of you have to be tested. This place says they can do it in ten days or less. It's quicker than I thought it would be.

$559 isn't real cheap though.
