You know, I really do not understand the left's point of view on Voter IDs.

The left is really all about people becoming part of a system, and conforming to a central will for the good of society. They fought hard to make sure that every American is part of a Health Care system whether they like it or not for example. What can be more systematic than having an ID card?

And what about when it comes to gaining access to receive the healthcare that their new system has made them a part of? Are you going to allow them to be a part of it without showing some sort of ID? Some have even suggested such things as national healthcare ID cards. Is it unconstitutional to require that for people to gain access to the new healthcare system?

It seems like an inconsistent position to me.

The issue is not about providing ID but the difficulty people have in obtaining the ID, from the inability to get to the DMV to not being able to afford the documents required to get the ID.

Because it's about voting early and often and they know it.

How are the going to get to the doctor to get free health care ? How do they get to the Benefits office to get food stamps and welfare. Come on that's just lame.

I've told you this before. My nearest DMV is 15 miles away. Medicare office, less than 5 miles. Wic, 1 mile. Etc etc.

I also have a problem with this scenario, and it might just seem a bit facsist, but quite frankly if someone is of voting age and they can't bring themselves up to the point of purchasing an ID card- do I actually want that person deciding important issues for me? Imagine the limited type of life a person would have to be living if they do not have a valid form of ID.

How many people can there truly be that can NOT get an ID? Enough to actually swing the outcome of an election? I doubt it. But if it actually means a large number of people can get away with voting illegally- that actually could be enough to swing an election. I say stop making excuses!

Yep, not being able to get to a state office for an ID, but being able to get to a polling station, is a pretty pi$$ poor argument against voter ID. They call it a "poll tax' Isn't paying for gas or public transportation to get to the polling station a poll tax as well? How about postage for an absentee ballot?

I seriously don't know why people have such a problem with this. It is common sense.

You're right, it is fascist.

A large number of people get away with voting illegally? Show me the numbers. These are the facts and I live in a city. A large number of people in this state live in rural locations and are living in poverty. Go read about the delta.

Polling station, 0.5miles away. DMV 15 miles away. There is no public transportation to the DMV.
