About the A number

Hello everyone, I am new to here.

My husband applied K1 for me in 2005, I went to USA but we never married and I went back home. Now we married and going to apply for CR1. We are doing the forms. Here is the problem. My last K1 letter, I-797, on the letter says beneficiary A 123 456 789. There was a A number. Now we are applying for the CR1, the form I-130, asking about my Alien Registraton Number, do we need to put the A number from last K1 letter? Also the G325a form's file number starting with A?? Question 3, I-130 D other information" Have you ever before filed a petition for this or any other alien?" Do we need to put yes??? He applied K1 visa for me last time, but not CR1, so we are confused. Thank you!

Since there is an A number on record, write it down in applicable places.

Your husband must answer yes to the question on the I-130 form because he has in fact filed a petition for you before.

Yes! this is absolutely correct. Once you are issue an A number is yours for life and will actually follow you through your permanent residence and citizenship application processes. The A number is what is used to locate your immigration file so it must be used whenever is requested. Leaving it blank or admitting you don't have one can actually create problems.
