On July 16,2012 I called the NVC for the first time and was told that i had been assigned an mnl number on July 13, 2012. I have since been calling the NVC each week since on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday asking about the status of my case. Each time I was told it was under "additional processing". Today on my Friday call, I was informed that my case was under "administrative processing". Can someone please explain the difference and what additional steps have to be preformed now. I am so trying to remain patient but the process seems to be one delay after another. Please help me to understand.

Usually this means that the USCIS will review your case for around 180 days then you will get a notice of intent to revoke. Then you have 30 days to submit any evidence to prove your relationship. Then after you submit this evidence they will take 60 days to review your evidence and give you a reply of denied or re-approved. After that it goes back to NVC to the consulate and another interview is given. This is what time frame we are on and waiting to see if our evidence is good or not.

It has been approved by the uscis and has not been to the embassy yet. I am still stuck at the NVC.

If you were already given your MNL case number that is a good sign. That means NVC will send your case to Manila soon, if they haven't done that already. For your peace of mind, next time you call NVC ask them when are they sending (or sent) your case to Manila. They usually send an electronic copy together with the hard copy. If they have already done this, then you may already pay your visa fee at BPI without worries, then schedule your interview appointment.

No I always ask them for the status of my case and they tell me that it is still there and has not been sent to Manila, it was under "additional processing", but is now under "administrative processing". The operator even refered to her supervisor to make sure she was reading her information correctly. As always I asked what this means and she simply stated that there is very little difference between additional and administrative processing but they could not give me a time range when my case would be ready to send to Manila.

As always, I worry.

Sounds odd as they gave you the MNL #. Something to ask yourself in a short checklist:

1) is there anything from your past that they may need to further review?

2) Is there anything about your fiancee that may need further review.

Examples, previous divorces, anulments etc. Finances or proof you met in person etc.

3) Is there a child involved and included on Visa?

4) Previous filing or sponsoring a K1

I am sure you can check off anything similar to the above. If nothing comes to mind then I am confused as well. Just sounds odd that you received your MNL # and they are still under Administrative unless this is protocal for everyone.

I am going to watch your situation so I can learn more as well. Sorry it is taking longer than expected. Good luck to you..

Just one previous divorce for me, abundant financial proof, no annulments, no children and no previously filed K1.

A little trouble with the law when I was a younger man but all misdemeanor items and way over 7 years old.

I just do not understand any of this.

^^^ des1867 has a USCIS-approved K-1 Fiancé(e) visa petition sitting at the NVC and it's under administrative processing. Your CR-1 spousal visa petition is handled differently than a K-1 fiancé(e) petition, so your advice does not apply to des1867.

des1867...Don't worry. Everything will be fine. The NVC has already assigned your petition an MNL case number, and they will send it to Manila after they get done checking the things they feel they need to check. In the meantime, keep calling them to find out when it was sent to Manila. Once it leaves the NVC, then your fiancée can pay the visa fee at BPI and schedule an interview.

Best wishes to you both. :star:

Read this thread that outlines responses to the exact same question: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/378639-administrative-processing-at-nvc/page__p__5538492__fromsearch__1#entry5538492. I had a similar experience about 2 weeks ago with NVC. Now (not even 3 weeks after the NVC received our petition) our case has already been received at our consulate and we have an interview date. Pay special attention to the 9th message down, posted by Mitexi. In Mitexi's post there's another link with a very detailed outline of how NVC works. Good luck!

Additional processing, I thought there is no difference.

When I asked the Customer Service Operator at the NVC what the difference is between additional and administrative processing she stated that there is very little difference but would not go into details about how they were different.

i know its hard to take after such long wait, all we gotta do is wait some more cause its all in their hands. nothing we can do apart from call, call and call. dont get too depressed. the fact that you got your NVC case # means your file might be sent off soon. keep your fingers crossed. they could just be running a quick back ground check on you that USCIS might have over looked cause they didnt have time
