Hi Everyone~

i've submitted i-751 to remove condition and i've received NOA which states my conditional resident status has been extended for one year.

my california driver's license has expired already, but when trying to extend CA driver's license DMV is asking for copy of new permanent resident card.

DMV is also requiring copy of expired permanent resident card and i-797 NOA extension letter which we have.

if i understand correctly the new permanent resident card wont arrive until condition is lifted.

Then my question is, do i have to wait until i receive new card before driving again?

Did anyone run into similar situation?

please advice~ Thank you!

Rosa

No, you don't need to wait. You will show up with your expired Green Card and the extension letter to prove your status.

I recommend that you go in personally to show your documents as opposed to faxing or sending them the information. The extension letter serves as proof of your legal residence. Ask to see a supervisor if they tell you that it is not enough. Good luck!
