Today I was scheduled for my N-400 interview. I was scheduled for 8:00 am. By 7:30 I was there, I was called at approximately 8:20 and was done probably by 8:25.

I was told that although I passed the test, I would not be able to have my oath today (Newark has same day oath) because she was not able to reach a decision at the moment, and would review my file.

Now what does this mean? Which parts of my file are to be reviewed? It is very weird because she did not ask me anything other than for my taxes, and the standard questions of the application. I was literally done in 5 minutes. So much so that my brother was surprised when he saw me back to the waiting room. Please help!!

I am getting my green card on a five year basis, and I have more than fulfilled the required time to apply. What bothers me is that I have traveled a lot. I have never passed the 6 month limit outside the US and my total stay in the US for the past 5 years is 33 months. But she did not ask about this either. I was not asked about anything and this is what bothers me the most. I have literally no idea why I have been delayed :(

Other members gave you an idea of why you were delayed (a little bit).

seens cases of ppl travelling abroad and are put on file review, all what they do is to check the validity of information you provided (dates of travelling, etc) they just make sure all is good, nothing to be worry about, most file reviews are resolved within 10 days (as of the cases I have seen).

so relax, you will get your approval sooner than you think

It sounds like the file and her review of it need to be looked at by a senior officer for a final decision. If that senior officer is available, it can be done right away (that is what happened with me although I wasn't able to do the same day oath ceremony as my interview was too late in the day). If the senior officer is not available, however, that review needs to wait until they are available, usually a day or so. It could be that the senior officer was on vacation and so a final approval needs to wait until his/her return.

If you were interviewed that quickly and passed all of the exam questions, it sounds like you really do have no worries and should expect to receive a decision and a scheduled appointment in the very near future.
