starting to weigh my traveling options.

would it be cheaper to fly to el paso texas and cross into juarez?

or fly from ord to juarez airport?

anyone traveled from chicago to juarez?? what were your traveling expenses?

I traveled from NY to Mexico City to meet my fiancee. I explored the option to fly into Juarez from NY and meet her there. She had never been in a plane before and scared so I scrapped that idea. I also looked into flying to El Paso then crossing over the border. That was scrapped because of the same reason.

The difference was that going to El Paso is a domestic flight than going to Juarez. When I checked it was much cheaper to go into El Paso.

Try going on the airlines' websites to compare prices and schedules. Some flight have limited schedules. I wanted to travel during daytime hours, not too early and not too late. I used Orbitz.com. But there are other sites out there.

Flights from ORD to El Paso are about $400 with no connections and to Juarez were more than $700 with a connection. The taxi from El Paso to the consulate area hotels though will be about $70 each way, most consulate area hotels have free transportation to/from the airport so the comparison is now $540 versus $700....$540 for a direct flight isn't really a decision anymore.....

That being said I chose to drive it becuase I am an optimist and feel that my wife is getting her visa that week and we can see some of the sites on the way back to the Chicagoland area and then we will have some flexibility depending upon how long it takes to get the visa. I'm not taking my car into Mexico though.

Most people I know fly to El Paso and cross the border with a taxi service, etc. Another option to explore is whether it's cheaper to fly ORD to Mexico City and then use a regional budget airline to get to Juarez. It's a bit convoluted, but sometimes it comes out way cheaper. If their schedule coincides with your travel plans, VivaAerobus often runs very affordable flights into Juarez. Sometimes InterJet does as well.

Yeah it would be cheaper to fly in the USA and Cross.

I'm gonna fly with my fiance from Tijuana to Juarez I live with her in Tijuana.The tickets are very expensive inside Mexico for Tijuana to Juarez almost five hundred dollars each even months out.They are gouging people cause the Consulit.My fiance is from Monterrey which is farther and we have made that trip four times and it only like two or three hundred dollars each for tickets and that's buying them in advance for peak season.

I looked into flying from San Diego,where I'm from to El Paso and its like 300 dollars.But I don't wana fly alone and meet my fiance there just to save 100 dollars after taxis,I wana make the trip with her.

I even thought of the bus,but she does not wana travel using the bus inside Mexico.Not to mention if we use the bus that more days I would have to take off work.
