Don't worry about my footing. I'm quite well. And if you believe that basing a discussion on facts - however inconvenient they might be to your argument - constitutes spin, then you need to familiarize yourself with what spin is.

Yes, because context is always important. For example, your doctored clip shows the President saying this...

"In America, there's a failure to appreciate Europe's leading role in the world. Instead of celebrating your dynamic union and seeking to partner with you to meet common challenges, there have been times where America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive."

...while leaving out him saying that at the very same time:

"But in Europe, there is an anti-Americanism that is at once casual, but can also be insidious. Instead of recognizing the good that America so often does in the world, there have been times where Europeans choose to blame America for much of what's bad."

Get it? Probably not.

Good day to you sir! It is pointless to argue so I won't. You believe what you want and I will believe the truth. It doesn't matter what you choose to fool yourself into believing. Obama went on a world tour apologizing for America. His own words prove that. Despite the additional "context" you added to his words it still amounts to an apology. Your cool with that, I get it. It is OK. It isn't OK for me and for millions of other Americans. This fall the apologist in chief will be turned out. I will give you the last word because I know you just can't help yourself. Enjoy the beating Obama will take this fall! Bye now!

Where's the apology in that statement? There isn't one no matter how hard you try to see it.

Where and when did he apologize for the US?

Obama's Apology Tour:

  • In France, he said that America "has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive" toward Europe
  • In Prague, he said America has "a moral responsibility to act" on arms control because only the US had "used a nuclear weapon."
  • In London, he said that decisions about the world financial system were no longer made by "just Roosevelt and Churchill sitting in a room with a brandy"
  • In Latin America, he said the US had not "pursued and sustained engagement with our neighbors" because we "failed to see that our own progress is tied directly to progress throughout the Americas."

Those hardly sound like apologies. If anything, he should be considered guilty of stating the obvious....

I posted that rebuttal some time ago. Go back and read it. Surely you are familiar with what an apology is as well as what context is. Contrary to what Rove and Co. would want to claim, the President did not travel around the globe apologizing for America.

What part of that is an apology? Is admitting weakness or mistakes considered an apology?

What part of that is an apology? Is admitting weakness or mistakes considered an apology?

do any of the examples given fit the definition?
