They will probably never know how much money they lose because of people like me - the quiet ones. And it probably won't even hurt them. But at least I know that I attempt to live the principles I claim to believe in.

In the end it doesnt matter. I have my private boycotts as well so every dollar they don't get, is a dollar that goes towards their competition. The important thing is that you know you decide who gets your money. There is a reason some business go farther than others so don't underestimate the power of being true to your principles.

You may be silent but you're not alone.

Sigh. When did I say that?

Teddy made the comment that you do not see any other group, other than liberals, who protest to this extent.

I was simply saying, it goes both ways.

I'm sorry, you are right. I didn't see that before i posted. I agree with you post. I am very conservative but i do agree that both parties protest over stupid issues. I should have read everything before commenting. That was my bad. :bonk:

With that philosophy you are going to travel this world in very limited places.

The vast majority of people in the world have much less kinder opinions about Homosexuals and them getting married.

Even right here at home, 31 stated given the chance to act.... have gone through the trouble to change their constitutions to prevent any marriage other than that of a man and a women (though gays insist it was only about them).

So where are you left to go in the world to spend your money? Polls show people all around you also disagree with eliminating the definition of marriage... when you stop at a yard sale do you inquire first before buying that Cool and The Gang album?

No doubt many businesses you spend your money at now feel just like the guy at Chick-fil-a only no one asked them to be on the record.... so probably you have a problem with people voicing their opinion more than anything.

Anyway, your viewpoint makes holiday planning a lot easier since the list of approved places considerably limited.

I'm not that interested in traveling. :) Nor am I interested in going to countries (or states) that are overwhelmingly anti-gay. I'm not gay, but there's a good chance those places wouldn't be kind to me anyway. ;)

You're right, there are people who "feel" the same way as the chick fil a guy. They don't necessarily dump money into their causes though. If a business is going to funnel my money into a financing a political agenda I don't agree with, I'm not going to let them have my money. It's just a matter of principles. There's no point in having any if you're going to drop them whenever it gets too inconvenient.

I believe that the anti-gay marriage thing is discriminatory. I've never heard a compelling argument that it is anything else. In my younger, more ignorant days, I was anti-gay marriage. Why? Because I didn't think "they" should be able to call their union the same thing as "we" do. Then one day I realized that very statement IS discrimination.

PLease tell me any basis in Marriage law which would not be discriminatory to someone?

THE ONLY DIFFERENCE between me and you is I admit MArriage should be discriminatory...... by it's very purpose and function it must be or... WHY BOTHER?

if this were back in the 50's your argument would also be valid for those who opposed inter-racial marriages.

Really? Because it seems that "vast majority" is getting smaller and smaller every year. In developed countries, anyway.

Why bother getting married if you don't plan on having kids? People do it - perhaps we should question their choice?

Plenty of people get married for the symbolism that this entails - public recognition, legal recognition, a statement of... whatever.

I can't believe you think this is such a big deal.

Once there is no real definition of marriage, it is not a big deal, in fact why even bother?

To your other point-

People who have no interest in having kids and making a family (for what ever reason) (in a saner time) have always gotten married to honor marriage. and of course to live respectably.

For and older couple to shack-up would be an act of degrading proper social living arraignment.

since the cultural revolution we have chipped away at these things until now a women who doesn't even bother to get married can pump out kids insist the tax payer support them and act as a mini hero for her struggles.
