i am a USC who is planing a visit from a friend in the UK. If while he is here we marry, does that void the travel visa, and is he leagal to stay in my country?

Marrying a USC gives you no right to reside in the US. The USC would petition for a spouse visa.

No and Yes. Visiting and getting married is legal. What is illegal is if he is planning on coming here, getting married, and staying. He can come and visit, you guys can get married, then he needs to leave before the date on his I-94 expires (he will get that on the flight over and stamped when he enters on his tourist visa). Then you guys can apply for a CR1 visa, go through that process, and then he can come and be here legally as your spouse (once approved). Here is a link to the guide for the CR1.
