From J1 to H3

Greetings everyone,

I currently hold a J1 visa. I came on a training plan, but due to changes in the structure of the organization it is changing. I found a new organization that can take me on a training plan similar to what I was looking for, but they would sponsor me through an H3 visa instead of the J1 I currently have.

My question: is there any problem with applying for a H3 visa while having the J1 visa? or right after? (I'm still not sure if cancelling my J1 or wait until I apply for the H3)
