You may find some local third world airlines that have "bad safety record" but with any international airline that flies in US air space you are in good hands .

I have used Delta many times without incident and service was ok.

My absolute favorite is Korean Air. The service even in coach is amazing.

good.gifgood.gifgood.gif On Korean Air. My wife said the same thing, and I have flown them many times. US service may seem ok, until you fly a foreign carrier such as KAL or JAL. When I came back to the US, I was disappointed in the service on Delta and Continental, especially the fact that everything costs money. Sometimes, even headphones. wacko.gif

My wife said the service on Delta wasn't very good, she didn't care for flying them much. But the price was right, and sometimes, that matters more than comfort. As far as safety... when is the last time you heard of a US majors having a crash? I don't recall any fatalities on a US Major in the past 3 years or more. Even flight 1549, which ditched in the Hudson River after birds took out the engines, all the passengers lived. You'll be safe on any major airline.

Worst airline? All of them just give them time. Had bad experiences on Korean Air, American Airlines, Delta,,, Plus others. If you fly

enough, something unexpected will happen. Sometimes the airlines fault, sometime not.

Currently for the past couple of years I have been flying Delta (better connections to Asia),,, maybe 120-150k miles a year. I have had no

outlandish delays or issues. But, service is not what it once was,,, on ANY airline.

YMMV...

Good Luck!!!

Agree. If you get an older Delta airline your entertainment will not be the best. I has one of the older ones when I flew in January and didn't have individual tv's. There was 3 large tvs for an entire section and the quality was poor. Other than that they were very friendly with good service.

Delta is fine. I flew Delta my first trip to the Philippines. I flew Korean Air my second. Both were about par on service, but I love Korean Air more. Korean Air is cheaper than Delta, new planes are great, great flight record, and usually fewer stops (flew straight from local airport on the east coast to Seoul then connected to Manila). I will probably only fly Korean Air for future trips to the Philippines, but Delta is fine too.

The Pacific crossing flights on Delta will mainly be on older 747's, which are quite old but perfectly safe. Individual TV's etc. will not be available. If you are on a 767 or 777, or most Airbus planes, your amenities will be better. If you are tall, as am I, then you should learn the plane configuration and research seating options. Some seats offer far more leg room than others. If you are unable to reserve one of these preferred seats, don't sweat it. Show up early and talk to a representative. Most airline reserve these seats on purpose to accomodate special needs until just before boarding. You can get a seat with plenty of leg room, even on the cheapest economy ticket, if you know what you are doing.

On a side note, I personally prefer China Airlines simply for the amenities and service. They have most new generation planes and excellent service in the cabin. That said.....I often am force to fly Delta because of my location and destination. :(

I guess its not really a question of safety, but of price. I took Northwest/Delta going to the US as they always offer the cheapest going to Atlanta (at least in all my searches). Service is not 100% bad but I did expereince a luggage delay. I arrived hours before my luggage and had to go back to the airport to get it myself. :( I considered flying in to CA/Vegas and getting a domestic flight to reach ATL but it seems to be more expensive and a little scary as you will never know if you would be able to catch your domestic flight.

I have found Korean Air to be cheaper to Atlanta from Manila rather than Delta with fewer connecting flights. Has this not been the case for you?
