A silly question- how do you get married?

That's so weird! So people can just say "we're married!" and that's it?

Well, you still need to get a marriage license and then sign and file it with county clerk/city hall/whatever so you get a marriage certificate. All it does is eliminate the need for an official third party to sign the docs too. My friends were going to do that but changed their minds... it seems kind of nice to me for a meaningful ceremony (if you so choose of course, no requirement to have one). Instead of "do you take this person to be your lawful wedded wife?" It can be "I take you, love of my life, to be my lawful wedded wife!" or whatever language you want to use. It seems very personal.

Ummm what? I don't know who you spoke to. I suggest you go in person. That's not normally how it works.

On the website it says: "CEREMONY: Couples themselves may solemnize their own marriage (C.R.S. 14-2-109). Others who can solemnize a marriage are judges, retired judges, magistrates, public officials authorized to perform marriages, or in accordance with any mode of solemnization recognized by a religious denomination or Indian Tribe or Nation. Not anyone can solemnize a marriage. Although the couple may solemnize their own marriage, that does not mean a friend or relative can also solemnize their marriage. Clergy from out-of-state need not be registered in Colorado."

I'm actually kind of excited about it. It seems more personal and sweet to me. Lady basically told me we could apply for the license, solemnize it, then walk out married 30 minutes later.
