. Any helpful advice would be very much appreciated folks!

I don't think it was your lack of documentation. You know how they say to wait before going to get your SSN so your entry has been updated in "the system". I think maybe it's a USCIS thing that you weren't found in the database. The only reason I think this is when we went to DPS to show the naturalization certificate a week-ish after the ceremony, the lady said "oh, I hope it's in the system. They say to allow 10 days for USCIS to update. So yes, the Texas DPS has access to the SAVE system (Systematic Alien Verification of Eligibility). It sounds like you weren't found for whatever reason and like the manual verify for a SSN, it may take a month or more. That's my guess anyway. Wondering why we went to DPS to prove citizenship? Because as long as you are an alien, you can't do anything online. It's always a trip down there to prove your status and get found in "the system". We were in a small town with a short line so popped in. Did the same with Social Security.

Okay, just thought of another thing. Did they look up your name exactly as on the EAD? My husband's versions of licenses changed with every USCIS update.

John R. Smith based on greencard

Changed to John Robert Smith because that was on the naturalization certificate.

I forgot what the EAD "Temporary Resident" one said.

The DPS lady said it had to change to match the document.

Get your husband to add the car to his policy. It may be cheaper maybe than a separate policy for you. Well, unless he's not 26 yet. SF has the "multi-car discount". Also if it's his 2nd car, it can be classified "pleasure-not for work or school" which is cheaper than a car you commute to work in every day. It's not a huge amount, but something. I"m not looking at my policy now, but we have various discounts and classifications that know shave a little off the cost.
