hi what is iffy?? and does all k1 aplicant need to provide co sponsor ?? coz i only have i134 and some bank statements and an employment letter..do i stil have to ask myfiance to have a co sponsor??

"Iffy" meaning that it can go either way in Manila. Some people who use cosponsors get denied and some get approved. I believe your chances can improve by using an immediate family member such as a father or mother for a cosponsor. However, it is anybody's guess with Manila as it is at the discretion of the CO. To answer the second question, NO, you only need a cosponsor if you fall below the 125% poverty level. The guide to this level is form I-864P and can be found here: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=73c63591ec04d010VgnVCM10000048f3d6a1RCRD&vgnextchannel=db029c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD

All you need for the K-1 interview if you meet the income requirements is the I-134 form with supporting financial documents. Bank statements and employment letter are great. Get your tax transcripts, some pay stubs, and last year's tax return or W2s if possible. All of these things are acceptable and will strengthen your case.

As you know, my friend's I-864 (joint sponsor) was successful. Several other VJ'ers have also had success when submitting the joint sponsor's I-864. I don't know of any K-1 applicants who have submitted an I-864 (sponsor) and an I-864A (joint sponsor), but I feel it's worth a try.

I would use the I-134 (sponsor) and the I-864 (joint sponsor). I would attempt to submit them to the Filipino pre-screener. If the Filipino pre-screener did not accept the I-864, I would attempt to submit the I-864 (sponsor) and the I-864A (joint sponsor). If I didn't have any luck with the pre-screener, I would attempt to submit the joint sponsor's I-864 to the consular officer. Don't wait for anyone to ask you for the joint sponsor's forms. You need to be proactive on this. You need to make your case.

That being said, I hope you are not focusing too much of your attention on forms and, in my opinion, neglecting a much more important factor. I believe the deciding factor in your visa approval could be whether your fiancé attends your interview. I can't think of anyone who had a similar case to your case who was refused a visa approval when their fiancé attended their interview. On the other hand, I can think of many VJ'ers whose fiancés did not attend the interview and who were refused approval. In my opinion, the best way to ensure the Embassy accepts your joint sponsor and approves your visa is to have your fiancé with you at your interview.

No. Co-sponsors are only for those that have income below the guidelines. All others just turn in the I-134 and required documentation.

Hi Tahoma! I have my interview schedule on August 28. My fiance couldn't make it on that day because he couldn't be absent on his class since it would just start in August and also to save money. So we decided that it would be fine if I go alone on the interview.

Anyway, I have been preparing and learning more about this matter and yes, I will have those forms ready and make my case =]

Thank you for all the information. I am thinking positively that I can make it!

Have documentation that your fiance is in college, that helps sway the CO also.

Thanks Hank! I put that on my checklist too =]

You can request an earlier interview by emailing the U.S. Embassy Manila. Often they will grant your request. You just have to be persistent. The Embassy's email address for requesting an earlier interview is here.

If I were in your fiancé's shoes, I would borrow the money in order to attend the interview. Having your fiancé attend the interview would send a much stronger message to the consular officer than any form you could submit.

I don't know that being at the interview would sway the CO if there are income issues. Besides Manila is not that difficult that the fiance really needs to be there. Ya I know I was there, but only because we weren't flying back for a couple months afterwards.

Thank you guys for all the information!

We would do all the best possible ways we can to get approved (that's what all of us VJers are doing!)

I have learned a lot and I understood the important points about the Affidavit of Support.

The Consul would say they don't accept co-sponsor or joint sponsorship but if you show either I-134 or I-864 from the cosponsor to prove that they are able and willing to support, the consul would review and evaluate it and it's up to their discretion then.

Of course my fiance would love to attend the interview and help me but we decided for him not to because I think and feel that I will be fine on that day

and so we can save time and money. I will be with him in the States soon anyway! :P (just thinking positively)

I think all things happen for a reason.

All I know for now is that we're doing all the things we can to get this done!

So thank you so much guys!

Good luck to me! Hahaha!
