Georges, I'm glad you decided to post in the main forum rather than the progress report thread but I think you should be posting in the sub-forum "Effects of major family changes on immigration benefits". Just by reading the topics in that thread you may find an answer to your questions. Best luck.

Please give details of how long you have been married and whether you have proof of being blackmailed for money. The more details you give, the better advice you will get.

You NEED to gather all the evidence possible now. Evidence proving that you entered into this bonding in good faith. And all the evidence that she is blackmailing (felony) you.

Oh, I'm so sorry. I thought you just screwed up on your first post so I was teasing you.

Slow down. What happened? Did you have a fight and she's just being emotional? Do you really think she's serious about the money?

People say crazy things sometimes when they are angry. Let her settle down. And you can still file for removal of conditions on your greencard even if you get divorced, so all is not lost. You can get help with that on this forum too, lots of people have done it.

Hang in there.

Well if she asked you in an email then this either is a very badly thought out plan or she's just...not smart.

You need to be able to prove you entered the marriage in good faith, as others have said. And she's in big trouble.

So, this wasn't just a big fight that she's overreacting to? You believe the relationship is definitely over?

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you won't need to do anything with your greencard until it's time to remove conditions. Then you'll go to the interview alone, with your evidence that it was a real marriage, and explain that you got divorced.

It's up to you whether or not you go after her for the blackmail. That's a tough one. I don't have much sympathy for her, but then I'm not the one who was married to her.
