Does anyone know the difference between:

NBI Clearance and Police certificate?

I've only included the NBI clearance (Green Paper, half sheet) along with the other documents into my IV packet.

Did i also need the "Police certificate"?

NBI clearance is the National Bureau of Investigation. The police clearance is only a local check through the barangay. I have heard many say that a police clearance is not necessary for a filipino citizen. But the NBI is definately a requirement.

Does anyone know the difference between:

NBI Clearance and Police certificate?

I've only included the NBI clearance (Green Paper, half sheet) along with the other documents into my IV packet.

Did i also need the "Police certificate"?

The policer clearance/certificate is only needed if the beneficiary has lived in another country (some countries will not issue one, but the embassy is aware of this) for 6 months or more.

Police clearance only need if you work abroad before. SO if you never outside the country for work. NO need for POLICE CLEARANCE. Just NBI clearance only

ok thank you all, i will wait until my packet has been reviewed, hopefully approved =)

hi! i, too, was confused about the nbi clearance and police certificate because of two different pages on the NVC website: this >>> http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html and this >>> http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_5455.html?cid=9719 but we decided to go with the reciprocity by country information since it is more specific.

by the way, i noticed that we have almost the same timeline except that i am waiting until monday to send my IV package. are you from manila? if so, i suggest that you go ahead and do your medical exam at st.luke's. i already did. unfortunately, i was one of those who were required to undergo sputum exam so right now i am waiting for the result which will be available on september 19 yet. hopefully, NVC will close our case and schedule my interview at about the same time. :-)

Sorry, but this is incorrect. NBI clearance is for the country of the Philippines. Police clearances are for people who resided outside the PI for more than 6 months. And NBI clearance does not require anything from the Barangays. Just go to Manila and request it (or perhaps a remote NBI office if not near Manila). They run a background check on you without any info from the smaller police departments.
