Request for Evidence Response Review

On July 13, 2012, we received your response to our request for evidence. This case is being processed at our CHICAGO, IL location. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you.

I applied for naturalization through marriage in March 8 2012, everything went well until I went for my interview 7-11-12 in which the IO seemed a little quiet. She asked all the questions about my marriage, work, travel, taxes, and arrests in which I answered that I was arrested for driving without a drivers license five years ago. She asked me for the court dispositions, but unfortunately I only had copies of those documents and she said that she wanted the originals. At the end of the interview she made me sign my pictures and the application and told me that she needed more time to review my application.

When I went home, I checked the status of my application and it said that they sent and RFE on July 11, shockingly when I checked my case online again on July 13 it said that they received my response, which I never sent. I'm just wondering if anybody knows of anything like that, or if you guys think that my application is going well or something went wrong. I really don't know why this is taking so long. Thanks

This happened to us. The same day my wife passed her interview we got an RFE email. Officer had not said anything in interview about needing anything else. After a more than a month of not getting anything in the mail, I called the field office and they said they didn't send an RFE and they were just waiting for another name check. Now we are approved and in the oath queue. Never got an RFE. I think this "RFE" status is used by them when they need something internally, like a name check or a higher-level approval. I've seen many posts that indicate similar experiences. Good luck!

Hi, thank you for your output. I've been really worried because I have never heard of anything like this, but I guess it happens more often. I just hope everything goes well with my application.

This is similar to my husbands situation. He was approved at his interview on July 19th and was told he'd get a letter in the mail for the oath ceremony, now as of yesterday his case status says he has a RFE... hope a letter comes or something!

Hi

Yea it actually sounds like my situation and based on what I have read on other cases, they usually update your case on the website as a REF when they need more time for the approval of their supervisor or the IO needs more time to review all the application. Luckily, they scheduled the ceremony today, now I'm waiting for the time and date of my oath. It sounds like in your case you have to wait a couple more days. I Hope everything goes well for him.
