:o Glad you got through it. I have an older brother who lives in Arizona and a few years ago, after leaving a restaurant with his wife he was immediately pulled over. He panicked because he had a few beers. He refused to do the breathalizer and it was an automatic one year suspension of his license. I think the laws have gotten more severe for drunk driving. It's such a difficult thing to judge - as to how much is too much to be able to drive, but I believe there are general guidelines.

That is the problem. Everyone reacts differently to alcohol so guidelines are pretty much useless in the end. Any drink driving should be banned, no matter what. And while they're at it, they should ban effing cellphone use while driving too. :ranting::P

i think the phrase "don't drink and drive" is a great guideline

I agree, but many people will go out to a restaurant and have a couple of beers without it impairing their driving. I think that is ok, especially if you're eating and you're there for awhile. It's anything after 2 beers that becomes iffy.

I'm glad everyone in your family was safe, Stina.

It amazes me about how some people think they are invincible and will drink and drive no matter what. Alot of the accidents they cause they walk away from it since they are so limber from the alcohol. It is the sober ones that suffer in accidents and your family had an angel with them last night.

...And then there are people like me, who are pretty much sauced after 2 beers. I would never drink more than one drink and drive, and even after one I'd have to wait about an hour.

Doesn't seem like any guideline really works...

At least you know your limit. You are responsible and will not get behind a wheel. I like to drink during the weekends but I hate to get drunk - so i stop. Will never get behind a wheel or be in a vehicle with someone under the influence. I have a good friend that lost his daughter to a drunk @sshole and I never want to be that @sshole.

Glad everyone was OK and the idiot was caught, Stina&suj

10Yr GC arrived 07/02/09 - Naturalization is next

Stina, I am so glad that your family is safe and that idiot didn't cause more damage and harm than he did. I too believe that the law should be harsh on drunk drivers. There are always options other than driving. I also agree that cell phone use should be banned while driving as well. I can no longer count how many times since I arrived here I have had to do a strong bit of defensive driving (go up the side of the road, etc) to avoid being hit by some idiot chatting away on the phone they are holding with their other hand to their ear, not paying attention to his or her driving and coming into my lane.

My grandmother was killed by a drunk truck driver in daytime who came up on the sidewalk and ran over her and hitting my aunt while they were window shopping.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Stina thank God you and your fam are ok.

I was hit by a drunk driver once...had to be cut out of my car. Thank God, I wasn't majorly hurt. Oh, the lady also assaulted me by repeatedly punching me in the face as onlookers cheered 'kill whitey!' while I was stuck in my car. :help:

Then my friend Frankie was killed by a drunk driver. Everyone was going to the clubs, and this driver made an illegal uturn on a red light & mowed down his motorcycle. He died right there in the street. Just that very day, I told him to not ride the bike..he said 'I'm too mean to die'

Drunk drivers are some of the lowest of the low...it's not funny, cute, nor clever. If ppl are gonna drink, they should take an effing cab before they destroy someone's life!

Wow, sorry! :(

I've seen it so many times though, while in Applebees or other restaurants with a bar section. You see people drinking LOTS of alcohol and then go out and drive off. It makes me so mad.

Unfortunately none of the 100 or so neighbors of hers saw a thing. Aint that a beeeeyotch?

I was 16, it was Christmas Eve...oh and she was like 45. She was beating me for like 5 or 10 minutes, but the way she hit my car, my arms were pinned, so I couldn't even defend myself.
