Hi everyone,

Four months since the applications, here're what I got in my email inbox:

On July 19th, 2012:

1.

"** DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS E-MAIL ***

The last processing action taken on your case

Receipt Number: xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Application Type: I765 , APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION

Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production

On July 19, 2012, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283."

2.

"** DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS E-MAIL ***

The last processing action taken on your case

Receipt Number: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Application Type: I131 , APPLICATION FOR USCIS TRAVEL DOCUMENT

Your Case Status: Post Decision Activity

On July 19, 2012, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I131 APPLICATION FOR USCIS TRAVEL DOCUMENT. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283."

I waited and waited, eagerly picked up the mail every day and saw no notice "mailed to you" as I had heard.

Then today, July 25th, 2012, I checked my email, and got this:

3.

"*** DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS E-MAIL ***

The last processing action taken on your case

Receipt Number: xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Application Type: I765 , APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION

Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production

On July 24, 2012, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283."

And

Please, can anyone give me some explanation? I'm totally confused and worried.

At the same time, my case status on uscis site jumped from "card production" as on July 19th back to "post decision activity". What on earth does all this mean???

(While my case was transferred to the black hole called CSC, I have no hope to get my green card in any time soon. I'm dying to receive the work permit or the travelling card. We paid an attorney to file the papers for us, and he told us not to apply for a SSN until the right time came and he would advise. (The right time doesn't seem to have come yet). I've been here for 7 months and it feels like imprisonment, no SSN, hence, no bank account, no driving license, no insurance, no job, no money. No life! :crying: )

Yeah, a watched kettle never boils. But with my current situation, there's not much I can do but watching the kettle! I've gone out (other people offered me a ride in their car) like 10 times this year. Mostly to Walmart, which is 3 minutes from home.

What a (non)life!

Yes,I hope the EAD and the AP were really approved and will arrive soon.

As for the attorney, that is a cheap one. But it's another (long) story.

I'm sorry to hear your story, Holyman.

I guess I could open an account with West Fargo Bank, if that is what you did, without a SSN. Thing is I've never seen or heard of that name around where I live. Plus, I don't drive a car, nor do I have one. Totally handicapped. My spouse goes to work on weekdays and weekends are for his own hobbies.

At least there's the hope that the EAD and AP are arriving. Can't wait to get back on my feet!

The bank told us they couldn't add my husband to our bank account without a SSN, something to do with the federal government and reporting or something. I honestly don't see the big deal. He's not putting money in right now, I am, haha. I just wanted him to be able to use it.

Regarding the lack of an American bank account, we use Paypal to transfer money from his German account to mine, but you'd need someone with a bank account to be able to do that. The fees are pretty good considering I can then transfer it straight to my bank account. You can also get a check or a prepaid card from there.

I'm sending you good vibes for a quick arrival of your EAD!

Total elapsed time between filing I-129F to GC in hand 569 days or 1 Year, 6 months, 22 days.

Some banks allow opening an account without an SSN and some don't. Often it varies branch to branch so calling around may help. I was able to add my husband to my Citibank account as long as I was the primary.

At first I thought he meant Wells Fargo too. But a friend of mine works for Wells Fargo and she says you can't open an account with them without a SSN. Plus, if you google West Fargo Bank you'll see they do exist.

Things don't work that way for me. My husband wouldn't add me to his account. I'll have to open one of my own and add him to it. (Kinda wish I'd never left my home country.)
