Hi

Just wondering if the five months processing time by USCIS is written in stone of could it be less

Assuming all the papers are in order is it possible that they will be forwarded to NVC in less time

I read somewhere that 5 months is a maximum.

Thanks much

5 months is the goal....

It could be less, more than likely it is that or more.

Good Luck!

5 months is their goal some people are still at the service centers after 8 or 9 months or more. No issues just one of those things. I got approved in 3 months 1 week. So who knows. Background checks and such can be time consuming. They do alot of checking at USCIS and they are the ones that are going over petition and approving it.

So answer to your question no nothing is in stone. All you can do is wait and wait and pray and hope.

You cannot really compare someone's processing time with yours, but may just help to know latest statistics from VJ's Igor list. USCIS goes thru various checks before approval and based on possible red flags a case may get late approval from USCIS.

Question - your profile states you filed at the Bangkok Embassy - are you using direct filing or filing in the U.S.. Direct filing has a much different (and shorter) time line if you have the required six-months residence.

For my Wife and I, we just got our NOA 2 from USCIS approx 3 months. But you are dealing with the Govt so !?! I dont think it has anything to do with your papers being in order, they just grab the next in line. but once they get yours, then papers being in order helps or it might take longer.
