“We are part of an Anglo-Saxon heritage, and he feels that the special relationship is special,” the adviser said of Mr Romney, adding: “The White House didn’t fully appreciate the shared history we have”.

Mr Romney on Wednesday embarks on an overseas tour of Britain, Israel and Poland designed to quash claims by Mr Obama’s team that he is a “novice” in foreign affairs.

Someone might wish to remind Romney that GB is considered our strongest ally, in case he goes W on us and sticks his foot in his mouth yet once again....

Britain likes Obama. They aren't going to like another republican. The right wingers over there are destroying the country, I predict he goes down like a lead balloon.

This statement by the Romney campaign is really for domestic consumption. Yes, they said it overseas but they know it's going to get reported here. They want Americans to know that in Romney there is a candidate who is appreciate of America's true heritage.

I mean, really... all one has to do is look at Obama and one can tell that there's no America there. It's all Kenya all the time.

But would Romney not be alienating all those other heritages that are also part of America?

His faith has a bad record when it comes to civil rights and I don't think he should be flaunting it as a virtue.

No, most Americans realize and appreciate this country's Anglo-Saxon roots. It's only a small minority of individuals (who mostly vote Democratic anyway) who refuse to accept that.

There were a lot of racial undertones with that statement in the article, that will make him popular with all the RWNJs who are BNP fans, that's about it though.

Mr Romney has pledged to stop Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon, threatening military action more stridently than Mr Obama. He said on Tuesday that only a “complete cessation” of uranium enrichment by Iran was satisfactory – a stronger demand than the White House’s.

I don't know what to think of this statement? I agree with Obama that Romney is a novice in foreign affairs. Who wants another war? Ugh.

No one cares about BNP fans. The statement was for consumption in the United States. The United Kingdom merely serves as a convenient and appropriate backdrop for the sentiment being communicated.

Agreed.

Romney camp denies "Anglo-Saxon heritage" comment

When asked specifically how policy toward the U.K. would differ under Romney, however, "the advisers could not give detailed examples," according to the Telegraph. "One conceded that on the European crisis: 'I'm not sure what our policy response is.'"

Sounds like they really know what they're doing.

"It's not true. If anyone said that, they weren't reflecting the views of Governor Romney or anyone inside the campaign," she told CBSNews.com in an email. Saul did not comment on what specifically was not true.
