Working overtime indeed - got an email with a 9:00 PM timestamp letting us know that our I-129F visa application was approved. NOA-1 was April 19, so the CSC is well into the stack of April applications. I had been getting discouraged about getting Jamnan here before the weather turns cold, wet, and dark - maybe we get to see the leaves turn in Yosemite. Having a 9:00 PM email gave me the opportunity to call and pass on the good news and tell her that, no, I don't really know when, but at least the big first step is done.

Thanks for providing lots of reassurance over the months.

The workflow at the service centers is a mystery to myself and most of us - it is a black hole our hopes and $340 check enter to emerge with an 'adjudication' an indeterminate number of days later. Like many here I was in the habit of checking my USCIS status morning and night, so I know there was no sign of activity between when they logged it in on April 20th until they approved it on July 24th.

It is my understanding that each adjudicator works on a number of applications at once, and if the application is complete and raises no red flags they can and will approve that one and continue working on the applications which need additional research by the adjudicator or evidence from the petitioner. I assume that our application was moved with others in the same date range to an adjudicator and, as there were no problems found, approval was granted. The good news is the top of the stack of I-129F applications is April which is well within their 'goal' of five-month processing (for us it was three months and six-days).

Now that CSC is working down its backlog they may be able to help out the VSC. I wish everyone a speedy passage through whichever service center they are at the mercy of.
