Ok. Just called NVC. Told I have a checklist. Dreaded words. He said they needed my daughter's birth certificate. We sent the orinigal certified copy with all the AOS and other IV papers. It was the extracto de acta de nacimiento. Is that not the one to send? It's the only original we had. It was on the official paper with the official civil stamp! Help! I don't know if they just misplaced it or if we send the wrong kind of birth certificate?! Any info is gratly appreciated.

For DR they need the Acta Inextensa y legalizada which is the long version of the birth certificate. Maybe thats the one they want, instead of the extracto de acta which is the short version of the BC.

Don't know if thats the same but it has to be apostillada or something like that. If your from Santiago I have someone that can get that for you quick in la junta.. Just send me a PM and I will put you in contact with that person that works there. FYI .. it has to go to Santo Domingo to get apostillada and this guy gets it in 24 hrs .. Hope this helps..

She needs the inextensa legalizada by the junta, apostillada is for foreigners that go to get married in DR and need the document to be legalized and revised by the Junta to be able to get married in the country.

They need it to be inextensa (long version) and certified. Sorry about this. I know how awful a checklist feels, but without this you will not get a CC. Try to get it fixed ASAP. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks everyone! We are off to Gasper Hernandez today to get it. I am so glad I called them. I was actually trying to be patient and just enjoy the rest of our trip but something told me to call. At least we have a few days to get it as i know it has to be sent to SD. Ugh! But it'll be fine. What's another week delay! :-) Thanks to all that chimed in. It was so nice to know I could get answers quickly.

Hello Friends,

Just came in to take a look...now I have a question...I am the petitioner (of course) and when I sent the first packet( I129F etc etc) I included my fiance's and his daughter birth certificate which happen to be Inextensa...however, mine is just an extract...does mine have to be an inextensa as well? I wasnt born in Santiago...please help!

I sent in my application on 7/17/2012 they received it on 7/19/2012. I got the green slip yesterday(7/24/2012) along with an email and text as well....now I'm afraid I may have delayed my process by including an extract of my birth certificate and not a full version of my birth certificate...

Stephanie

Because we got the copy at the office in gaspar hernandez it doesn't have the official stamp I guess. so, we had to send it to santo domingo to have it certified. It's weird because my husband said he had to have the inextensia when he got her passport but the one he gave me was the acta. Oh well, like I said, it will delay us about two weeks but what is done is done.
