Well you can only pay people to not work and have babies, just so long before you run out of other peoples money and you have more taking than giving. Then it starts imploding.

We got about 8 million working illegals in this country doing OK and about 12 million Americans not working... It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out why that's a problem. It's so simple even a liberal should be able to figure it out.

In my area, the local peach farmers can legally bring in a quota of migrant workers to pick peaches and work in the process plant. They can do this because they have been able to prove the can not hire enough local labor. Over 50% of the 18-26 demographic in my area are unemployed and are beneficiaries of some from of means tested benefits. Once again it's so simple a liberal could figure it out. I get it they don't want to pick peaches, it's hot hard work. However if their stomach was grumbling they would go pick peaches, and then maybe they would hate it so bad they would better themselves. Regardless providing them food and shelter, when there are jobs available, should be a no no.

It should go like this.. applicant- .I need food stamps... Case worker-sir there are peach picking jobs available, I can refer you.. Applicant--I can't do that ...Case worker--- Then I guess you are going to starve to death.. end of story.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

I do not advocate paying people to sit on their butts.

You seem to advocate an approach that takes no consideration of people's situations

what if he has peach allergy? you still want him to take this job?

what if there is nobody to look after her kids and any daycare costs more than peach picking? you still want her to take this job?

what if he's a disabled vet with no legs? should he go climb that peach tree or be starving?

You may want to drive poor people to committing crimes by taking all hope away, but I don't want to be an innocent bystander when it blows into the face of your poor caseworker.

You want them working? Find them jobs appropriate to their physical and mental abilities and pay a living wage + health insurance unless they are already on Medicare or something.

Seriously you advocate paying people to sit on their butts instead of working becuse they might, commit crime for which we will not punish them.... Dear God you libs have created a perfect mess and somehow seem to think it's good.

Are you up for some peach picking?

That is the problem with Liberals, you take sense and make nonsense out of it. Of course I don't advocate picking peaches if your disabled. However in wonderful MSNBC fashion you bend the facts. Here in my section of the country we are importing people from Mexico to pick Peaches, while a large section of the young population in that area is unemployed and receiving means tested Benefits.

So you are against forcing able bodied workers with no Peach allergies and no war amputations (got to love that one) LOL, from picking Peaches or starving ? We are talking about the vast Majority are able bodied and could work.

They Key is you found something better !! You did not say screw it I am sitting home and getting a check from the tax payer rather than do that.

We coddle way to many people in this country. A large portion of people on disability have NO disability that would keep them from working. "I am depressed" I cannot work for the rest of my life. I see it all the time. They live a very normal life EXECPT they never go to work. (and we pay for the scam)

Exactly and 8 million illegal aliens come take their place and work in jobs they will not work in, while we pay them to walk the street and sit in government housing

OK, we are getting somewhere!

I simply dislike the tone of absolutism. Now it turns out that you wouldn't force people to choose between jobs that are age/health inappropriate and no food stamps. Yay!

Are there stats showing that among food stamp recipients young healthy ones are predominant? I always thought it was more for families with kids. If both parents are peach picking, then who's gonna watch the kids? It is illegal to leave the kids alone in the US. I think it is ridiculous. I was left home alone since age 8 (instead of staying in after school program) and I loved it. But back then, it was socialism and it was generally safe to walk the streets even for little children ;)
