Done with my oath. Did registered to vote. Thanks for the support everyone.

"On January 28, 2013, we scheduled you for your oath ceremony and sent a notice providing the date, time, and location". My status has been updated today on the USCIS website. :dance: In the next day or so I will have a date for the oath ceremony!

Just came back from spending 7 hours at the NYC USCIS office in lower Manhattan. Got approved and made the mistake of waiting for an Oath Letter afterward. 3 hours to be seen for the interview and 4 hours waiting for the Oath Letter. You're not allowed to eat unless you leave (and risk missing your name being called) so anyone going to this office, pack food and eat in the hallway. They ended up scheduling us for Feb 6, a date for when we'll be out of town. My husband has two buisness trips scheduled in February and when he wrote the dates on the paper, the USCIS woman took it and said "Why bother filing at all? You're going to have to wait until March to be put back in line."

Besides the fact that she was rude and everyone we encountered (except the security guards) seemed disinterested and lazy, that wasn't true! There's a good 15 days in between where he could be scheduled. However, waiting until March isn't a problem--her attitude is. I'm so glad we paid all that money to have our entire day wasted and be talked down to.

Good luck to anyone else dealing with the NYC office. I am so over it. And bring a granola bar!

Congratulations, agentemily007, for your approval and thank you for sharing your experience. My interview is next week, at the Long Island City location. I am getting nervous as the date is closer, hopefully it goes smooth. Thanks for the food tip! :lol:

Thanks a lot, I will definitely come back and post my experience for other NY filers to read. I feel you on the oath date and hope that gets resolved fast. At the very least, there's some comfort in knowing it really is the end of the road and you never have to deal with any of this again. :dance:

I agree. I don't know the details of your husband's situation, but frankly, if it's at all possible and no major consequences or losses would occur, maybe it is a good idea to just cancel the trip, take the oath and be done with it once and for all. I know I would. In light of everything you went through today, I cleared my schedule for next Wed when my interview is (thank God I was able to) and made peace with the thought that I might be in there the whole day. And I stocked up on Granola bars :lol:

I already checked on canceling, but our tickets and hotel are nonrefundable. It's a family wedding where we're spending the week with everyone since we have to travel to them in FL. So I made an info pass appointment for when we get back on 2/12 so he can go find out if he was rescheduled or what happened in case they don't send us something before our current oath date of 2/6. We requested another appointment today but I personally don't trust them to be on the ball about anything. Haha, nice! I would've paid $5 for a granola bar today. I was literally STARVING!! LOL

I already checked on canceling, but our tickets and hotel are nonrefundable. It's a family wedding where we're spending the week with everyone since we have to travel to them in FL. So I made an info pass appointment for when we get back on 2/12 so he can go find out if he was rescheduled or what happened in case they don't send us something before our current oath date of 2/6. We requested another appointment today but I personally don't trust them to be on the ball about anything. The trip he's taking at the end of the month is a business trip, so he can cancel that if he has no choice, but his job won't be happy...
