Hello,

My Russian fiancee will be applying for a tourist visa to visit me in California. She has her interview at the US Embassy in Moscow very soon. (Yes, I know, the odds aren't good that she will get one, you don't need to tell me)

Anyways, when she filled out the form online, she said that I would be supporting her trip financially. My question is, will I need to fill out a I-134 affidavit of support? What other documents should I send her? (Invitation letter?)

Thank you very much!

Theb I-134 does not apply for tourists. You may wish to send her a copy of your passport -bio page- in case the interviewer ask her more details about you. That will provide solid evidence hat you actually exist.

Other than that she will have to stand on her own financial feet in order to get the visa.

I wish her best of luck!!!

Ok thank you for the responses. So if she will have to be on her own "financial feet", would she have to have a certain amount of money in her bank account (or anything of that nature)?

(FYI, I will be buying her plane tickets and paying for her entire visit)

Thank you!

She should bring her bank statements along with her to prove she has enough for the trip. However, she must also be able t to provide evidence of any money that does not rhyme with her income. So, sending her money just so she can show it n her bank account may prompt the interviewer to question the origin of the money and may complicate things for her. The reason for that is to stem money laundering, so she is expected to show the origin of any funds deemed excessive in comparison to her salary.

Although many would say it does not help, write a letter/statement to the consulate indicating you'll be paying for her ticket and that she'll be staying with you. Maybe it won't help, but it certainly won't hurt.
