n-400 rejection notice

hello members! i am submitting this question on behalf of my grandmother. we submitted her n-400 2 weeks ago and received a rejection letter in the mail today along with the complete packet (application form, check, pictures). they sent an i-797c NOA and a green paper with a note stating that if we wanted to re-submit, we had to just place the green note on top of the packet. i know what the mistake is for why the application got rejected (the picture was wrong) but my question is, do i just resubmit the application as is without reprinting it? it has some printed numbers on the side that have a black line running through it and initialed by a representative of USCIS, i believe. thank you for all your help and a speedy process to all your visa journeys. :)

Wow.... I have a feeling the same might happen to my file as well. I had some pictures lying around and just attached those to my application. I was told that at times if the pictures are unacceptable, they ask you bring new pictures when you are asked to come for the interview. It seems that I will be receiving my rejected application soon.

What was wrong with the pictures you had attached?

hi there! my grandmother had her head tilted a bit and it just looked a little off center. i should have followed my gut feeling about it because the lady who took the picture was new and had little training. i took my grandma again today and had them do a retake (without fee) - this is at Walgreens. the same lady was there but i was relieved when someone else took over to review what she had retaken and he re-did the pictures and made sure everything was perfect. anyway, i resent everything, printed a fresh application, voided the previous check and made another one, attached a colored photocopy of her green card, and made sure that the green letter was on top of the packet like they indicated. it's in the post office's hands now. crossing my fingers that they accept it this time. :)

btw, you do have to bring another passport picture to your interview aside from the pictures you send in with your application. i was naturalized in May and that was one of the things i had to bring with me. :)

Maybe this reply is too late, but you can just mail the same packet with the green letter on top as instructed. They've already processed it and found a problem, so you need to just mail it back with the correction.

Has to be the passport photos, surprised they rejected your application for that reason since the USCIS starting taking their own photos of you at biometrics, like they did for your green cards. This was started about a couple of years ago.

Way back they wanted a 3/4 view of your face, then switched to the same standards as the Department of State for your US passport. Want no eyeglasses, no jewelry, no smiles, 2 by2 inches with the head size in proportion of that, white lighted background, DOS site has all the requirements.

When I saw the photo they took of my stepdaughter, they accepted it, I would have rejected it. But she received her US passport with it, so that is all that counts.

I am pretty sure it was the photos only because i sent in my grandfather and grandmother's n-400's at the same time. Their applications are identical in terms of address, travel dates, time of residency, etc. and i assembled their packet in the exact same manner. They were sent on the same day, both certified mail and arrived at the same time through tracking. 2 days later i get only 1 text/email notification and i know it's hers that got rejected. True enough my grandfather got an noa and she didn't and just 3 days later, his biometric noa comes in and her packet is returned. I'm sure she's bummed that they won't go at the same time but hopefully everything runs smoothly from now on. Just keeping her positive throughout this whole thing coz i know how stressful it can be.

I remember the 3/4 view coz i had some travel docs back in the day that needed them. Those were a pain in the "#######"!! glad those are long gone.

Thanks for your reply.
